Hi guys just wondering if anyone has any advice I started mush stage Sunday have been having 1 weetabix with banana for breakfast the inside of a jacket potato with cheese for dinner and last night I had a morrisons nume Cumberland pie for tea ( was mainly mash ) well 2/3 of it I'm waiting 20/30 seconds between each mouthful and chewing as much as I can with mush I woke in the night with pain in my back on level with where my band is and thinking I have some wind trapped there?? Well hope that's all it is but it hasn't shifted all day dispite drinking boiled water and taking wind tabs has anyone else had anything like this should I be worried? Xxx

I've just rang THG and been passed around the hospital told each nurse the same thing and they "put me through" to the specialist nurse which was left to ring out!! I'm fuming I'm not a person who makes a fuss I generally get on with things but when im waking up in pain it's not on! I had a couple of glasses of wine on Sunday and think maybe it's acid but my omeprazol are capsuals and we can't have them can we? Xxx

it could just be trapped wind but ring back and get it checked. Or do you have email contact?? I find them brilliant at answering emails x

Are you taking pain killers? You can get yr antacids as tabs that dissolve. Call your gp.

Hope you get sorted out soon xx

Aww hon so sorry to hear that :( wish I could help. I'm scared now because I have this back pain as well an it doesn't seem to go away... Let us know how you get on. I would call the emergency line or is it the same as the hospital number I'm not sure? Xxx

Don't be scared hun last thing I want to do is frighten anyone if you have it too it must still be wind pain does it feel like something pressing on your spine? Your newer out of surgery than me so probably is just wind sorry to have frightened you hun xxxx

No no don't be silly :) I'm worried about you! I'm only just managing the wind pain and it seems like I'm producing new wind rather than struggling with what's been pumped in, if that makes sense? Yes it's a pressure on the back, middle lower back. I've even reading some other sites and forums and some people reckon it might be because we're trying not to use the abdominal muscles and that puts extra work on your back. It might be true, I get the ache after walking for a while also... Hope you feel better soon! Xxx

Sounds like one if two things either trapped wind or acid reflux do u take optamzole everyday ? As taking it as a one off doesn't help that much I take mine everyday before food also if it s trapped wind and your newly banded ur still bruised inside so the trapped wind can also press on the bruised parts making it feel terrible hope this helps xxxx

I haven't been prescribed optamazole, is it something you can pick up over the counter? X

Can you make an appointment to see the nurse who wasn't there when you needed to be 'put through'? You definitely need to speak to someone professional about this, and in person - not on the 'phone.

This permanent pain and discomfort is worrying you, totally understandably, and also wearing you down in general. If you have access to some kind of patient liason team, ring or write and let them know exactly how you feel and how poorly and low in spirits you are now.

Pain should always be investigated. You shouldn't be in a position where you have to assume that it might be wind or this or that... you need a proper medical opinion. It could be any number of things, but you shouldn't have to guess nor should you be left to deal with this day in-day out.

Keep at them until you get the help and advice you need x

Oh no! Hope they sort it out quickly for you! Did you let THG know by the way, I remember reading in one of the booklets that you needed to. Please keep us posted, thinking of you xxx

Thanks guys I'm home with buscupan I have been having oesophageal spasms not fun I've since read that it's quite common with bands and some people manage with buscupan and some have to have it removed :-( xxx

Ouch! :(

Let's keep fingers and toes and everything crossed and the buscopan will work!

Big hugs to you lovely, hope it sorts itself out quickly xxx
