Interesting read

Tough one to judge this one ay Mazza! If they were not 14yr old boys then i wouldn't have an opinion. I think its sad that the children of today are facing the problems we as adults have created for ourselves (sorry if this touches a nerve, but i made myself fat not my mom or dad). Whoever invented these computer games that kids sit at and never play outside has a lot to account for.. But thats just my personal opinion, bring back hula hoops and get rid of psp's..........

The hospital has obviously been keeping an eye on these 2 lads as they stated that it was a last resort. Maybe they are young but if like many of us they have tried many ways to lose weight they needed this op. Having the op at this age will set them out for a much healthier and happier life. Hopefully now they won't have to suffer the taunts and abuse that we did. I know not everyone will agree with me but I know if I could have had the op at that age I would'nt have the health problems I have now. Good luck to them bothxxx

Oh i agree with you there Gaynor. If they've tried all other methods to lose weight and the hospital are monitoring them then why shouldn't they get the surgery. I just hope someone is giving them the culinary education that 14yr old boys may not have much interest in and that someone is developing in them lifestyle changes that will help also xx

Its a hard one isnt it, on one hand at 14 they cant really have tried everything surely. But on the other of they have and nothing has worked why drag out the inevitable.

I do think though that all children dr's schools & hospitals should be keeping a closer eye on them to ensure that all kids stay healthy and excercise more. Psp's and wii's are good in moderation but I know some teenagers spend their whole life on them and only go out of their room for school.
I am no saint (or else I woudlnt be obese) but I am much more vigilant on what my children do and eat and drink than myself, yes they have macdonalds, pizza's chocolate sweets like all other children but as treats and in moderation. I would know if one of my children was becoming worryingly overweight and I would nip it in the bud, I know after my experiences that being obese holds you back in more ways than anyone could ever know.
It would be an idea for them to introduce healthy eating and excerise as part of the curriculum along with sex education.

This of course is my opinion only xx
