Hi
I'm 5 weeks post op and to date I'm 2Ibs off losing 1st 7Ibs. Was 20.9 the day of my op. My family and close friends seem to think I would of lost more. If I'm being honest so did I. Not eating no where near the amount I used to!!! Could some of you tell me your results. Getting concerned now. Calorie wise think I'm taking in 500 - 700 previously it was around 3000. I'm I doing something wrong? Xx

everyone is different its not a race as long as you are losing and your sticking to the plan i wouldnt worry you are doing fantastic keep it up

Hi Jou,

Don't worry, we all lose weight at different rates. What type of op did you have? I find that if I don't keep my protein and fluid intakeup, it has an effect on my weight loss. The other thing that affects my loss is the amount of activity/exercise I do. Although I lost weight quite quickly initially it has slowed down a lot. But, weight loss, even small is much better than a gain.

Thanks brad and rebirth. I had the bypass and that's the thing I am doing exercise . Will try to take in more protein. still concerned xx

family and friends are most likely having a sly dig as if to say '' See, you went through all that surgery and still haven't lost weight blah blah blah''. Just you wait a few months and you'll be like a new person.

At 5 weeks post op I had lost 31lb. 14lb of that was on the pre-op diet.
I am now 12 months out and lost nearly 10 stone.
Everyone thinks because you have had the op you should wake up thin.
Ok its a miracle op but most miracles happen slower than we want

I myself expected to wake up thin, i was mortified x

I found that there was a bigger difference as soon as I started exercising. Everyone's different though. I'm almost a year on and I seem to have plateaued but I've met girls who are a year on and they seem to be dropping the pounds!

i think thats a great weight loss!! its about what i did x

My son (then 6) asked when I was 2 weeks post op "when are you going to go back to the hospital to get all your fat off"
both him and me thought it wasn't going fast enough :D:D

Bless him!! If only it were that easy.
It's one of the things that worries me though - if I lose really slowly, will it mean I lose motivation too and go back to bad habits.

On a separate note, I didn't realise how much you'd lost in a year! Go you!

xXx

I don't think you lose motivation, like most diets you sometimes want to let loose and eat something just for the sake of eating it.
I will hold my hands up (just this once mind so I hope your reading this)
I had some chocolate covered turkish delight last night just because it was there. OH BOY I will not be doing that in a hurry again started to dump and was violently sick not just the mad foaming dog but deep retching vomiting (sorry 2 much info) if that doesn't remind me to watch what I put in my mouth nothing will:eek::eek:

ps thanx Lou

Never compare yourself to others!Eat more,1000 cals!Drink more!Ignore family and friends! You are only 5 weeks out,you are still swollen and your body is in starvation mode, hanging on to the fat, when you are further down the line the weight will come off.You have had a massive trauma to your body, let it repair then start losing at YOUR rate and no one elses.Maz x

Thanks folks for your words of encouragement. I did myself expected to wake up thin and based upon what family and some friends were saying it made me concerned. now I know I'm fine and on the right track. This website is soooo good !!! Xx
