I've made a decision!

Good afternoon all,
I have made a decision! After years an years of overeating and yo yo dieting, I am going to push again for a gastric band.
Only problem is that I have been declined by my pct three times. Even though my bmi is 42, I have no other problems (well apart from my boobs covering my wind pipe when I am asleep!)
I am looking at funding it myself and was wandering if anyone could recommend anywhere in the northwest (manchester way) and any rough prices! I have just been refused a personal loan with my bank as we had problems with identity theft recently, so looking at raising funds 1st!
Thanks in advance, Claire x x x

Hi claire welcome to mini's i had my bypass done privately with surgicare who have a large base in manchester. Not sure how much their band is but the bypass is 10,500

looking at a band with The Weight Loss surgery Group £6995 - London (£5995 - Preston and less for Belgium)

Thanks for that. Was that self funded or did you have finance through them?

Just wandering if anyone has any thoughts on this: Me and my fella are trying for a baby and our infertility specialist told me to get down to bmi of 25 and then he'd give us a round of ivf. This seems impossible without surgery and he and my gp referred me for funding and was declined. I am sure that I read somewhere that if you are trying to conceive then they do not recommend bariatric surgery???

thats right it is recommended you not get pregnant for at least 12 months post op. Mine was self funded, although surgicare do supply a financial package if required

I'll bear that in mind. I would rather be slim so I am healthy for my baby both in pregnancy and afterwards.

Might enquire about the finance package tomorrow. Thanxx

Hi, welcome to the WLS section :)

Quite a few banders on here have used Why Go Abroad at Dolan Park, Bromsgrove, as it is the cheapest band provider available. However, the standard of care reflects that so it's best to have a look around and then search this part of the forum to read peoples experiences of each provider.
