Hi my weight loss journey started in May 2016. After being finished from work in December due to ill health I went to the doctors with anxiety and depression. Not only did she treat me for this she referred me to the specialist weight management service as she was afraid at the rate I was going I had about 10 years to live . I weighed in at nearly 22 stone, housebound and very miserable.
While with the service I was determined I was not having surgery. I was discharged a year later, May 2017.
I was also diagnosed with sleep apnea and now have a cpap machine, which I love and cannot sleep without.
It was last October I had my epiphany. I was out with a very good friend, who had a band fitted two years previous and looks amazing. She asked me why i didn't want surgery. Admitted to her I was scared. She asked me if a stroke or heart attack was less scary?
I was referred to the bariatric clinic immediately and today I am waiting for my appointment for surgery. I have been told a bed will be available in September/October. It's nearly July! Can't wait!
