Hi all, just a quick on for you all does anyone suffer from joint pains ie): knee, hips, ankles mainly them. i have been thinking that the doctors are right in saying its my weight but this last couple weeks my hips and pelvis are worse then ever, just woundered if anyone else has/had this.

Ali x:rolleyes:

I have a creeky knee and it plays up in damp weather so maybe thats why your aching more as its been much damper this week ?

I can relate to that it's the change in weather, try putting a heat rub on and see if that helps.

In my quest to lose weight for this op I got a personal trainer (boot camp style) it was torture he pushed me to far, I actually passed out once. The exercise was way to intense for my weight and as a result damaged my knees.

I regret having a personal trainer as before him I had nothing wrong apart from weight obviously lol x

omg amy thats really bad, i will try the heat packs see if that helps, and thanks flower, its nice to know its not just me lol x

I had pain in my hips, knees and ankle before my bypass and my Gp refered me for x rays which confirmed arthritis.
Since loosing my weight I hardly have any pain unless I have done some major walking

Must admit that only 6 week post op & 42lbs down from my heaviest, I no longer suffer from the chronic bad back & knee probs I had pre op. Hoping it never comes back as it is such a relief & was obviously weight related :( Hope yours does too, honey xxx :):)

Thank you hunni so do i :)

I had bad joint pain pre op,just post op I had bad back pain as my skeleton adjusted to the weightloss. Now I never have any pain at all, anywhere!I feel twenty years younger!

I get bad lower back pain , partly weight related , partly work related . Am hoping it improves somewhat post op .

Got to post a negative on this i'm sorry to say.
You know i have lost quite a bit of weight so far but my arthritis is getting worse. It isn't getting worse because of the weight loss, its just because of my genes, my mother had it terribly.
For the past two nights I have had chronic pain in my legs and in one of my wrists, I havent slept a wink and am exhausted. Hopefully I will sleep tonight.
Just wanted to say that weightloss isn't a guarantee that the pain of arthritis will go away.

So sorry you are in pain Lynne ... unfortunately WLS can do nothing about genetic conditions such as arthritis & even very thin people have it .. but for general aches & pains caused by weight bearing down on joints it seems to be a godsend. Hope you get a good nights sleep tonight, Lynne xxx :wave_cry:

Your right Denise. It does help in loads of cases. Bad genes, but at least I can wear Jeans now because of the weight loss. lol
Thanks for the lovely kind thoughts.

You are very welcome Lynne ... arthritis is a horrible, painful condition. My neighbour suffers terribly (she is 6 stone wet through, lol) I often do her housework cos she is in so much pain. Getting into jeans at all will be a novelty for me ... always felt too self conscious to wear them but will give it a try a few more sizes down the ladder, lol. Sleep tight, honey xxx :)
