Hello all! Been asking lots before and reading lots here! Now this is reality as I have finally been given go ahead on a rny bypass in about 3 weeks! I am on nhs and having surgery in spire Southampton with mr van den bousshe! I have been wanting this surgery for many years! Now I have the go ahead I was in another social network in a wls group and someone just posted not to have it as their sister died! Are there many complications ??? If you follow everything you are told before and after is there any issues I should know about???? Thank you!

First of, very well done on getting the green light regarding your gastric bypass you should be very excited!
Secondly like any surgey it comes with risks which are always explained to us all and we have the final say if we want to take that risk
whatever happened to that person's sister you're unlikely to get the full story anything could have happened and maybe something not relating to whatever her surgery was
all you can do is reseach your chosen WSL even speak with your team and your concern im sure tgey wikk do their best to help you
good luck

Yes I know there are risks I think it was shock as shocked that was pre assessment today and that it was to confirm what surgery and then I read that!

I think follow everything they say to the letter and all will be fine! My surgeon is Mr van den bossche and told he is very good!

Thats fantastic news well done on getting a date!!

You can die from a lot of things, crossing the road for example but you dont just stay on one side for the fear of being hit by a car.

If you believe your decision is in your best interests then go for it. I would say that the risks of obesity out way the risks of the bypass. No one can predict the future but you can make your own luck in life....keep positive and all the best.

To be fair if that persons sister was having a standard operation such as having her appendix out who's to say that wouldn't have killed her? It's all about weighing up the risks really. Only you can ultimately make the decision :)

Just wanted to say hi and good luck xx

Hi lyn well done on getting so far. All ops carry risks but look at the positives and iif you stick with the ore op diet / shrink your liver and lose a but before your op you know you are doing your part. Try not to worry i know easier said than done and all us post op poeps will say we have been there but head up hun . So excited for you . : ) x

There are always risks in life let alone having elective surgery.. In my case it was simple, I had sleep apnoea so bad that the nurse said I was " Lucky to be alive"
I'm guessing you've had the op by now so just wanted to wish you all the very best .
Take care xz

Hi Andy! Yes had the op! Not sure why I had a wobble as no where near as bad as I thought it would be!

Great news Lynne, So glad all went well..Best wishes for the future :) xx

Goodluck on your journey !
