yOU have had a rough few years and i believe that wls would be good for you, usually 1st app is looking at what you eat and quantities you eat it in, to determine what kind of surgery would benefit you most from. Bloods took talk with dietician and lead nurse and possibly surgeon/consultant takes around 1 - 2 hours depending on who sees you xx I am from the North East so it will be different here, but thta was mine xx

thanks Chrisa, yeah my my weight has been a demon ive carried nearly all of my life, and im certanly not as bad as others in terms of how its affected my health as its never caused me too many problems up untill last few years so i feel quite fortunate in some ways. That gives me a good idea what to expect, just hope im a good candidate, then i guess the biggest hurdell will be them getting funding :( bypass is probably the route i would like to explore but will see what happens

well less than 24hours time i will be attending my 1st appointment with the Bariatric clinic, getting a bit nervous now to here what they will say :(

thought i would give an update, well i saw the bariatric team last week, great bunch of people :) and they said i would be a very good candiate for bypass surgery..... however....... my GP hadent applied to the PCT just made me a direct appointment :sigh:, so Dr Sgromo said he would write to my GP to get her to apply through the correct channels, he then went on to tell me that dispite meating the current Oxfordshire PCT requirments, BMI over 50, server obstructive sleep aponea, high blood pressure and being young non smoker/drinker and relitivly fit from going to gym 3 times a week. without being a full blown diabetic, (as i am currently a pre-diabetic as i dont quite meet the NICE guidline for diabetes, but my brother mother and grandmother all have it so im geneticaly prone to developing it). then the chances of the Oxfordshire PCT approving funding are vurtualy zero, as the PCT will not see it to be cost effective on a non insulin dependant patient, which frustrating as it sounds i can see there point :sigh:

so im seeing my GP again on Monday, Dr Sgromo wants me to be tested again for diabeties as in his opinion i am, as i went prepared with a graph of my blood glucose levels for the previous week, as i have a finger prick test kit and he showed some concernes about the levels 2 hours after meals. and i will see if my GP has applied in the right channels this time.

so with all this in mind i think i will be considering having to pay private if i get refused funding, Dr Sgromo's Oxford surgery charges £12,000 for surgery and 2 years aftercare, ive see it cheaper in places such as belgium for around £8,000 can anyone recomend others to consider?
