Hello
I am new to the WLSurgery forum. I am looking at having the sleeve surgery done. probably in May. I am a little nervous about it but I need to do something. I am the youngest of 10. All my siblings are over weight as am I. We are getting OLD quickly. As we age (oldest is 80) the older ones have all developed health problems all related to weight. 4 are in scooters now because they cant walk due to weight. I fear that is my future.
I recently scored a job that has bariatric coverage and I can not see a reason not to do this for myself. Now is clearly the time.
So one Dr. recommended the RNY and one the sleeve. Since I am not diabetic and although I like an occasional sweet they are not really my weakness. I just have poor portion control.
Any one have any thought on if one is preferable to the other?

my surgeon is suggesting the bypass but maybe sleeve if liver wont shrink enough i think you just need to do the research and do whats best for you as everyones experiences will differ wishing you good luck with whatever you decide

Welcome! I'm a bypasser and although had a few complications, very happy with my 5st6 loss over 11 weeks :)
Good luck x

Hi and welcome!

Personally given the choice of those two, I'd take the sleeve as it's less drastic with no swapping around of my insides. However there are many successful bypassers here who'd tell you it's the best way to lose weight and don't regret their choice one bit.

You need to choose what feels best for YOU.
