Miss hungry

7 stone lighter!
Hi, Iam now two weeks post op. Tomorrow I can move on to puree..whoo hoo!
I'm a bit worried about gaining weight. Did that happen to anyone?
I get achey around my port and sometimes when I'm walking my dog, my band aches. Is that normal?
I'm looking forward to having my first fill, as I would welcome some restriction.
I haven't lost much weight so far, which has been a real downer for me. I know it's early days but Tina malone lost 9lbs in her first week. I GAINED 1lb!!!
I visited my parents the other day, and as soon as I got in the door, they chorused "how much weight have you lost?"! ARGH! Everyone expects the weight to fall off. I do too I suppose. I have never eaten so little in my whole life, yet my body still wont release the fat!
How fast did other lapbanders loose weight?

I cant help you with the question but just wanted to welcome you :talk017:

hey welcome to the forum hun - im sure the weight wil come off you soon - dont panick! your body is probably in starvation mode so its hanging on to whatever it can!
i know bev had a bypass but she put on 5 lbs after her op because of the drugs they pumped her with for the op and that - it could be something similar for you!
im sure a bander will be by shortly to help you out hun! Neen springs to mind as she is good with advice and is also a bander!
wishing you luck on your journey and hope the weight starts moving for you xxx

It's not uncommon to have a slight gain when you move to more solid food again. This is not permanent if you get organised and make sure you choose low fat, low sugar food choices and get on a good diet plan for after recovery.
You are technically still healing at this point so you must try not to do too much, this is probably why you are having aches and pains. Just take it easy on the exercise for a couple more weeks.
If you want, please join us banders on the thread below my signature . We are in the minority on here so we miss each others posts sometimes.
At the moment , a few of us are logging our daily food and exercise to help keep on track so please join us if you would like to.
You will not really be losing properly until you start getting fills and even then good restriction is not instant in most cases, so joining slimming world/weight watchers/counting calories as well as looking at Mazza's band food tips is going to help you a lot in getting the weight moving.

Hi

Wahooo lucky you to be through the op and out the other side, I am due for a bypass on Monday and cant wait to be able to eat something with a bit of flavour!!

I am on the milk diet and boy is it dull lol

On average, how often did you banders have fills in the first 6 months or so?
I thought it was a monthly thing, so when I spoke to the dietition a couple of weeks ago, I was expecting to be booked for a fill.
However, she was reluctant and wanted me to eat more texture, which is good advice I know, but I want a fill!
So I rang THG yesterday to speak to the dietition again and had to wait till today for her to ring me. Anyway, I felt like I was practically begging for a fill!
When I had my fill (first one) last month, the nurse said as it was my first one she was only allowed to put a small amount in, but she wanted to see me again in 4 weeks to put more in. So my gripe is........"OI hospital group, don't make me beg for fills!"
She booked me in for the 30th which is great but Iam struggling and wish it was sooner. This band malarky is rubbish sometimes!

Hi

I had my band op in April but didnt have my first fill until September, so in answer to your question I had one fill in the 6 months post op BUT everyone is different. Your dietician has given you some good advice about eating more textured food as eating this type of food is the only way to test if you have restrcition.

Im my humble opinion your provider is doing the right thing being cautious over fills as being too tight is a miserable experience.

Slow and steady wins the race, 30th will be here before you know it x

Thanks Mazza, I know I'm being over eager. I feel like I'm in such a hurry to lose weight and I'm so worried that I might revert back to my old self and lose control. I feel quite close to that sometimes.
You are right....slow and steady wins the race.
