Keeping regular

Hi all fellow banders!!

Just a quickie i need something to keep me regular, i have tried adding fibre to my brekkie but am still struggling.

I am 6 months in now and have never had this much trouble so all your comments would be great. Xx

Hi. I've struggled with constipation. I have ibs too so its difficult. I'm sure a lot of my constipation is due to removing fruit from my diet. I eat veggies but the band makes it hard to get enough in. I take a daily probiotic. I have bio kult cuz its a multi strain & it works better by far than any other probiotic. It really helps. I also take lepicol (its psyllium husk, a soluble fibre) every 2 or 3 days & now i have no problems at all, no pain, no bloating, no straining etc. i still do not 'go' daily but I'm sure my reduced food intake is the reason. I find if i have harsh fibre like bran that it actually makes things worse!
It took a good 2 or 3 weeks of this regime to start working but I've been doing it for about 3 months now with no problems at all & when i do 'go' it's completely normal.
Hope this helps you

ugh i'm 6 months out and still struggling too, i take senna or dulocolax but i'm not happy about it.... like emma i suffer ibs which i think comes from dairy intolerance ..... i try to have dairy but then struggle 'to go' i may have to try emmas tips :) its no fun eh hate that sluggish feeling x x x

I have trouble with lactose too. If I have a meal with a lot in i take a lactase tablet, it helps to digest the lactose & tbh almost 100% stops the problem, i only really notice it if i forget or unconsciously have too much

& senna is not good to be taken regularly, like traditional laxatives, over time it makes the bowel lazy & makes the problem worse, that's why I prefer the probiotics & psyllium

oh i agree emma, which is why i hate taking it but sometimes needs must :) but i will certainly look into what your taking. You always have an alternative up your sleeve :) prunes tonight lol xx x

going to be visiting my local health food shop in hopes they stock em :) how come your so god dam knowledgeable on this stuff???

blooming ell emma i did wonder what the deal was, i've read so many of your threads with this kind of advise LOL being an 'alternative' lady i really ought to be more pro active in alternative healthcare too. For so many years putting myself first has been bottom of the list, especially when your on a limited budget, but i feel now's the time to start putting myself first for a change :) we don't have H&B near by but an independent one, i'm hoping i can find something which will help :) thanks again for the advise ......... i will seek you out again in future lol bless you x x x

Bless you too. It's not the illness or condition that controls you but how you choose to control the illness or condition. That's our motto & it's served me well many many times x

Go & Ask at an independent & you'll get honest & helpful advice. We would never sell anyone anything that we dont honestly believe would help them & I'm sure any independent you go to would be the same

I suffer from the opposite! Never constipated now, tend to be explosions if I'm not 100% careful in what I eat. When I was banded I was always constipated. Now by passed it has gone
