Keeping warm post surgery

The weather here has been a bit of a shock to my system after a constant 30 degrees for the two weeks I was away.

However I have found another bonus after losing weight . . my coats are all now big enough to get FOUR sweaters underneath!! I am wearing a ski low backed undervest with long sleeves, then a ski polo neck jumper, then a sweatshirt then a zip up fleece - then my coat!! I look as fat as I did pre op but I am warm!!! I also wear thermal long johns and two pairs of socks under my jeans and then waterproof ski pants.

A big fur hat keeps my head warm. The only bit of me that is cold is my hands but I need them out to be able to do any work!! Any ideas folk? I will put up a picture - I look lovely!!!!

LOL I was dressed up like that when I was in Oxford. Plus 2 pairs of gloves!

I am going to Oxford tomorrow to take my dad to the John Ratcliffe hospital . . but I could probably even go to Siberia in these clothes!!!

Hi Mel,

It would be lovely to see your pic... sounds like you are ready for the Arctic... goodness me... it's unbelievably cold here too...

Do hope your Dad is ok and all goes well.

Love and hugs to you all xxx

Well I survived!! The trip to Oxford was actually probably similar to going to Siberia - the temperature gauge all the way there did not go above -9 degrees . . the roads were that icy I did a fair bit of sliding around but managed to get Dad to his specialist in one piece. He has to have a cancerous lump removed from his leg in January. It has grown between his knee and bottom in his thigh and is apparently like a marrow. Cannot imagine this is going to be easy for him as he has got fairly bad breathing. They cant operate till January so no point worrying. I then drove him and my mum all the way back to Dorset where they live. I am actually feeling like an ice road trucker! (and I have the gear to prove it. I will post photo . . )

Glad you are back safely Mel... a stressful day for you to say the least and it's always difficult to ease parents through these difficult situations there is never a good time... hope it all works well.

Ice Road Truckers sounds about right... look forward very much to sharing your photographs...

Love and hugs xxx

Glad you got back safely despite the slipping and sliding. Hope your dad is not in too much discomfort with the growth he has and that all goes well in Jan. Have you tried fingerless gloves for work?

Good idea Jan but have ended up with them wet as trying to break the ice on the horses waters etc has been a job in itself. Thinking I may try fingerless gloves with some marigolds over the top? or even magic gloves with marigolds. Just hate feeling I cant use my fingers . . but am hating wet frozen hands even more at the minute!!

You look well and truly wrapped up Mel... there must be another way of keeping your hands protected... ice can burn can't it? So be careful... I feel for all animals whether horses, birds, even our wild rabbits on our lawn, it's awful weather for us never mind our animals and wildlife...

Keep us posted. Love and hugs xxx

You look well snuggled up Mel, good for you. I went out to take the dog out yesterday and I had so many layers on I looked like an onion!! XX

Thats what I am like - when I get in I can peel them off one at a time! If I see anyone no one will have the faintest clue I am thinner as I have so many layers on! If it stays like this till Feb as some seem to predict everyone will sure have a shock when I take these layers off!!! There will be a mini me underneath! ;)

Changing the subject - my 'wii me' on the wii has shrunk . . I used to be sort of ball shaped  . . I now look fairly normal. This has to be good!!:D:D:D

Hoping all progressing today Mel and you have managed to keep from 'Ice Road Trucking'... we are frozen solid and I keep thinking of you yesterday, do hope that your dear Dad is comfortable.

Love and hugs xxx

My coat wont fit because of my baby bump. Its a really warm ski coat and I am literally left with nothing! I refuse to buy another coat for the remaining 2 months, so stuck with 4 jumpers and nothing else :( Gutted lol!!
