Lansoprazole Capsules

I have just ordered some more medication, but something in the back of my mind is telling me that I don't need anymore of the above medication. I think I should only be on them for 3 months post op.

Does anyone know the answer to this, but I guess I best speak to my team and confirm it in the morning.

Hello Handsome , I was told to stop taking them when the discomfort stopped, i was having an acid-y burn , then it stopped so i stopped taking them , i had my op on 20th July , they discharged me on 30 mg then i went down to 15mg. I was only given the Lansoprazole Fastabs for six weeks, but as we have found with pre op diets, every area is different. I am sure that your team will be able to help you. Do you still feel that you need them or is it for "just in case" ?

i was on the capsules before the bypass but after the op i went onto fast tabs

No I dont feel I need them, its just taking them as a matter of habit now, but I would rather not take them if I didnt have too, as I am taking the capsule as I didnt get on with the fastab type.

I was told that I would have to take one for the rest of my life. To stop getting ulcers. But I had my gall bladder taken out at same time so that may have something to do with it.

Hi I saw my consultant on Friday nite as I was concerned about these tabs. I was given a weeks supply on discharge from the hospital but I had checked with others on another forum and some where prescribed these for life. But after speaking to my consultant he asked if I had suffered with acid and at all and to be honest I havent so he said not to take anymore. But I think you are suggesting the best thing check with your team and be guided by what they say. Good luck. x

you might need them ............but you will not find out till you stop taking them

i was given 3 months supply at L&d.

i was told i'd be on them for life but tbh I've stopped taking them and had no problems. I've never had any issue with ulcers so I'm not sure why some pct's seem to insist on taking them forever, whereas some say just for 3 months.

Well today I spoke to the nurse, and she said I only needn't for 3 months post op, so have been told to come off them. yipee.
