hahahaha bless ya, its hard isnt it? "well I dont eat or drink so what do i do?" I'm actually looking forward to finding myself a life. I would love to get into the gym! I'm also quite spiritual so i'd love to go to these fayres etc OOoooooo shopping!!!!!! clothes!!! hahaha yay :D
And of course you can still go out for meals, order a starter for a main :) And you can still go out clubbing or whatever you like doing, you dont have to get rat arsed to have a good time :) Oh and you can burn off loads of calories by A bit of rumpy pumpy hahaha :D
good luck bypass, im sure it will all come together for you, good luck :) xxx

I still eat and drink (soft kind never like drinking)! But along with that I shop, walk for miles, smile and enjoy life. What I don't do is dwell on things so much, **** happens and like everybody, you have to get on with it - no food binge is going to take that away!! It's good.

I'm not very far post op - but already my confidence and happiness levels are much higher than pre-op. I'm feeling confidant that this time the weight is going for good!

A lot of our social lives revolves around food and drink - but there are equally enjoyable things to do without getting stuffed (like Cicca said - you still do eat and drink - just not loads) The theatre, cinema, theme parks, holidays .......... there are millions of things you will feel like doing post op that don't involve big meals.

Caren - will you be attending the MBS festival this year? (Earls court 30th May - 4th June) I'm spiritual too!!

whats that? lol sorry i havent been to any events yet. I cant walk round atm anyway with my back (weight related) xxx

I still enjoy meals out, I even have the occasional 3 courser! My social life is no different to pre-op, except I'm more confident and enjoy dressing up nicely to go out these days instead of feeling like a blimp in a tent like I used to.

ANSWER: a better one. :D :D :D

I am 99.99999% convinced that for me (currently hobbling around like a 90 year old on osteo-arthritic knees and hips) that my social life is going to be *soooooooooooooo* much better than at the moment.

Currently I either don't get invited to *all* social do's that friends are colleagues are having -- or when I do I usually pass because (1) it is very difficult for me to move, (2) I hate my size and how I look in company, (3) I am always self conscious about what I eat or drink in company.

I am looking forward to the day I can get up and dance and shimmy on the dance floor again / be invited to things and NOT care about my size or what I eat -- i.e. not care if I eat a "normal" amount of food and people actually witness me doing so !!! (shock! horror!).

I am just 13 weeks post op - before op i went out for meals 2 - 3 times a week - cinema - theatre etc

I went to the theatre last night for the 2nd time post op (first time was just a few days after op) i fitted so well in the seat - it was comfy not squished in like an orange in a juicer - felt great - had half a tub of icecream in the interval - was so much nicer than before - am just starting to try pub food - its a bit tricky at the moment but worked well - i shared a starter ( just had one large garlic prawn) had a small portion of scampi and chips for main, ate the prawns out of the scampi ( 5 of them ) and 3 chips - shared some icecream for desert - have to say it worked quite well - so there is life after bypass - i just felt i need to choose my main better next time - i chose it cos it had a small portion rather than anything else -

I would choose my by pass over social activities considering how i felt about going anywhere pre op

My social life is still the same... in fact even better as i now like to go to different places.. i dont worry if i cant get a seat. im only an occasional drinker anyway... im only 13 weeks post op... but i will be having a drink on my birthday in august.
You just go to remember that alcohol is empty calories... you will be able to drink (not fizzy) when your sugical team say you can... but empty calories dont lead to weightloss... so drinking is your option.
Im loving my social life now.. i still have a long way to go.. but my confidence is growing.. i also dont feel like people are staring a me anymore because of my size... but more staring because they can see me getting smaller..
Its the best thing i could of done and have no regrets.. and i love going to the cinema and being able to fit in the seats etc. Yes you have to make some life style choices but i cant see why you social life shouldnt be any different as to now xx

Hi I'm only 5 days post op and still coming to terms with things. Do not know about empty calories?
Would love to know of any good books xxx

Empty calories such as alcohol come from food and drink that gives your body little (or in the case of alcohol) no nutricional benefit. Xx

I never liked going out too much as I had to find clothes that I thought hid my weight problem. I had quite a big belly rather like a "beer belly" and people would talk to me while glancing at the belly lol, Things like that made me very self concious about socialising and especially eating out, but I'm so looking forward to getting back to being the confident outgoing person I was years ago. WLS has so many positives I doubt you could count them all

Mayamoo has said what i was gonna say x
Its ok to have alcohol now and then but just do it in moderation.... no binge dinking... us bypassers and others who have wls now get drunker quicker... and with most alcoholic drinks.. they are full of calories... so we dont want to make a habit o drinking everyweek otherwise we will not lose weight xx

There really is more to life after weightloss surgery than food and alcohol.
I can do so many things now that I couldn't even think of doing when I was a fattie...

Thanks guys :D this has just made me even more excited for it now... I can't wait for the day I go out and don't have to worry about being the biggest person in the room! Or walking past groups of people worrying if they will make a comment! :D

As has been said, life isn't all about eating and drinking. I'm having SO much more fun now wearing lovely clothes and looking young and pretty again, and not like Mrs. Blobby.
