Looking Forward

BigDave99

a second chance at life
Hi everybody, I was just thinking about a single benefit of wls that I was looking forward to something I miss so much, a completely selfish thing just for me. The answer for me to get back cycling, this is something that I did at local club level before my weight gain made it possible.

So my question is what are you looking forward to or what had wls enabled you to do.

Its so nice to even think about getting on my bikes, to think about going for a swim would be a massive step for me, don't think I have taken my shirt off in public my whole adult life, well done

I haven't ridden a bike since I was a teenager, but I would like to give it a whirl. I would be quite scared of falling off though.
Did you ever do that thing where your riding along happy as larry, when all of a sudden you think about how you are balancing on the bike and then start wobbling. Or was that just me?!

Pre-op I have started going to the pool and am now up to 30 lengths in about 40mins without stopping 3 times a week. Not so good this week as I am tired only managed to 24lengths on Monday try again tomorrow see if I can do my full 30 lengths.

Hi again Dave i dont know where you live but i run the Support group in the North East, Sunderland .... im currantly looking into getting private pool hire just for people that attend my group that worry and havent got the confidence to go into a normal public pool, there seems to be a fair bit of interest as everyone understands everyone else and theres no judgement made from 1 person towards another with in my group either pre or post op.... this may give people the confidence to swim more regular and id like to try to get it going a few times a month to build peoples confidence as we are all entitled to swim if we desire too xxxx

LOL no but we did do a regular Sunday club run and in the winter we sometimes got a little carried away and this normally ended with somebody falling off, sometimes funny sometimes no so.

Wow well done that's a lot of swimming, would like to do this but am going to need a whole load more body image confidence before I do.

Swimming for me definately!! I cant wait to have the confidence to put a swimming costume on and then just loose myself in the pool. :D

Every day practical things too which goes without saying.

Flying! Getting on a plane and not having a panic attack about my seat belt not fitting!!

Oh so much... the future is bright :character00238:

my selfish wish,i want to be on the back of a harley with hubby ,cruising through sarasota, florida or down the vegas strip, either will do!,been loads of times but always to sweaty and hurting from the walking and heat ,and to heavy to ride on the bike! sob!

Swimming for me too x

Swimming for me too. I used to love aqua fit but I stopped going as we used to get a few of the high school kids pointing and laughing through the pool window. I used to start to get anxious about getting out while they were all there laughing so I stopped going. :-(. I felt so weightless in the water and really enjoyed the freedom it gave me to move about. Oh humm... Hopefully will get back once I'm a bit more confident.

My hubby started cycling at Xmas at 26 stone and now cycles 22 miles on a weekly run plus his 12 miles each day getting too and from work, he's 4 stone lighter already and hasn't made changes to his diet as yet.

For me its going into a shop and buying something that actually fits and not being 2 sizes bigger just so its comfortable oh and a kebab chicken of course lol

Swimming would be great. but my biggest thing would be to go on holiday by plane (instead of travelling to spain by coach taken 2 days there 2 days back,) been 28 stone i just could not do it, xx

so many things to choose from but i must admit, it will be lovely to go out to a club and dance my socks off...it's been a while x
