Hi, can anyone help me, i have been passed for funding this week and i have an appointment with my gp on wednesday 17th to sort out which hospital we should contact. Does anyone know the waiting times etc for each ? like everyone i want it yesterday ! i have serious back pain and my consultant has written a letter to support surgery. I have been seeing a dietitian at the local hospital for a year and tried lighterlife etc but lose about 2 stone and then put on 3 !

hi hun i would say to yourslf, right 18months and ill be having my op, some places arent as long BUT up in sunderland, i strated my journey a year ago, and i found out on 27 oct that im on the list for surgery, which is upto another 6 month wait, so in all 18 months, that does seem average for people, but hopefully someone will come from kent and be able to give more accurate info x

I have a friend in Kent (Margate) and she had her surgery recently at Chichester, and I don't think from beginning to end she waited longer than a year ..

Hi Hilary - whereabouts in Kent are you ? As Kerry says, it varies a lot from one hospital to another. I live in Biggin Hill and had my op at Farnborough in May, which was 10 months from referral and 8 months after being accepted onto the waiting list.

Hi Rose, my cousin had his done at chichester at the start of this year i think he waited about 10 months from start to finish. I just dont know how i can find out about waiting lists.

Sorry, can't help you there... can your GP help ?

Chichester is very quick at the mo... see my time scale below. Good luck.xx

I cant get over yours being so quick Linzi ! i thought the waiting list was one of the longest. well i go to my gp on wednesday so i will ask her to refer me there. I have had good reports but i was worried about the wait. I am in alot of pain cos of my back problem and this weight is making things worse. so how has it been for you ?

A.M.A.zing!!! Its been a real walk in the park for me.. but I am one of the lucky ones!

They did shut the waiting list for a while at St Richards but once it opened they're zooming people thru, they are super efficient there & the care has been 2nd to non!!

It was more like a sleepover with mates than having a major op! x

I live in the Eastbourne East Sussex and have been granted funding and referred to Chichester. My first appointment date is 4th Feb for meeting the surgeons etc and to get definate yes (HOPEFULLY!!). You have to download and fill out a 10 page questionnaire for Chichester and then when they receive that with your proof of funding they aim to have you seen AND operated on within an 18 week schedule....... great eh? Got everything crossed they agree they can help me on the 4th.

Hi Poppyowner, I too am in Eastbourne, fancy a chat/meet/coffee?
