Low B12

My GP has prescribed me with cytacon for this, but the ingredients say that it contains lactose, is it ok to take them or could it do damage to my pouch (I was bypassed 6 months ago)?

Are you lactose intolerant? Otherwise, if you can drink milk I can't see why it would.

You would be better with injections. Many surgeons advise 3 monthly b12 injections as standard for post bypass. Others tend to monitor and start injections if needed.

Post bypass, it is very difficult for you to absorb b12 orally. If the levels drop, it can be very serious, leading to neurological problems and in extreme, psychosis.

My suggestion would be to ask for injections, or try the tablets for say 4-6 weeks and be retested to see if they are having any effect.
