Lump in middle of chest

Hey guys. This is going to sound very strange but as most of you know I had a bypass just over 2 weeks ago and I also had my band removed at the same time. The last few days I have noticed a swelling/ lump on my breastbone where the port used to be. I no longer have the port in but it is where the port used to be and is a bit larger than what the port was. I have phoned the bariatric team at salford but I just thought id ask if anyone else has had this sort of experience???

Hiya Fuze - was the port through bone? If so the bone can grow round the port as in the case of Ilazarov frames. If not it is probably scar tissue (fibroblasts). Can you get your fingers behind it and move it slightly?

Hi Fuze, did they surgically remove port? It might just be a bit of swelling.

See what your team say...;)

hi fuze my 1st port was on my left, my new port is in my chest, i also had a lump from the removal of the old port, i still feel nearly a year after the removal like i have a phantom port as i was that used to it being there, so now i can feel my real port and im also very aware where the old one lay.

Thanks guys. I have an appointment tomorrow with Mr Ammori and the bariatric nurses for them to take a look. The bariatric nurse said it is better safe than sorry to check it out. Ill let you know what happens when I get back. Im going to look a right prat if its nothing. I bet its just scar tissue but it is very smooth and the surface fluctuates (like it feels full of fluid or something) and its about 7cm big!

Ill let you all know!

Hey,
was just wondering if you managed to see anyone about it and just checking that everything is ok!!!!
