Memories of your dieting days

Peterborough Guy

Luton and Dunstable
Just for fun, what are your memories, good and bad, of your dieting days and which diet did you find the best.

For me weight watchers always worked the best, and my memory was always, why am I the only bloke standing here in the line waiting to be weighed, and haven't the woman got anything more interesting to talk about apart from whats happened on Eastenders and Corrie lol

So what's your memories?

Best for me was Slimming World but everytime I went back all the same faces were there!I always hijacked the consultant cos I had more to say than her, they are never a good role model I found.
Remember the days of eating only eggs or grapefriut.Cabbage diet and Slimma biscuits!I ate them on top of the food!Does anyone remember Ayds a box of little toffees that were supposed to fill you up by eating one with loads of water, well I ate them like sweets! Those were the days,no wonder I was still dieting till this year!

I bet you could write a best seller . . . . come on more tales from the dark side xx

I couldn't cope with the "refeed" diet after my 5 weeks on milk. I always felt hungry. So, for the last three months I have mainly been eating:- Tomotoes, cucumber, lettuce, beetroot (pickled), red cabbage (pickled), lots and lots of Quorn ( I should have shares!) or tuna or mackerel. I spice it up with a spoonful or two of low cal coleslaw and potato salad.

What I wouldn't give for cod, chips and mushy peas?????

haha Kevin, you in that mg yet ? your doing so well with the poundage, well done x

Have tried all of the above diets over the years and many more to boot, the most successful for me was a vlcd called lipotrim very similar to the cambridge diet, I lost 10 stone in 6 months and had never felt better. I was so happy, but 2 years on and the weight had all returned. WLS is my last chance

Well weight watchers worked when I was younger but Rosemary Conley worked as I got older I think it was the exercise.

Can anyone remember Energen rolls they were like big balls of cotton wool!!

Hehe Starr that made me giggle, I agree though tried Xenical and learnt to eat round it no side effects but too much sweet stuff. I was put on them just before christmas had a meal pre-booked for a staff meal, leek and potato soup with cream added, full xmas dinner and a rich sauce followed by some rich pudding with cream. You can imagine the fun I had thenext day I spent more time in varous staff toilets around the school than I did in the classroom just as well back then I was just supporting and not teaching, it was a rough day. Learnt the lessons fast though. Tried Atkins, Cambridge, Hay and Scarsdale diets, DIY healthy eating the lot. Can't wait to have my surgery and finally have the means to stop myself cheating and eating round a diet again and again and again. Lets hope I can fight the personal demons and get it right for life this time.
