Evening all,
Hows everyone getting on? I've been working long days and on this milk diet it's proving difficult. I'm managing with the milk, jelly, fruit and yoghurts but find my head wondering. I've got virtually no concentration. I just keep on drifting into nice thoughts of what my life will be like in a year :D. I have lost abt 3 or 4 pounds upto now (5 day's in) but I am reading that ppl are loosing 9-14lb's on their pre op diet, can I be doing anything differently?
Katie xx

The ones who loose more maybe doing it for longer. I am starting on Wednesday and have to do it for two weeks. No fruit and yogurts for me, just 4 pints semi skimmed, plus drinks, jelly, and oxo drink.

the wondering head doesn't sound good as I have the accounts to finish and the tax return to work on over the next two weeks. Sounds like it maybe creative accounting - OK just as long as it is in my favour !!!

Well done with your progress and good luck for the 23rd

Not long now then chick, I bet you cant wait? I only recieved 11 days notice, I was told abt sept for mine but got a call last week. I think every hospital must have a different diet to follow. I've got my pre assesment on wed so want to do the best I possibly can by then.
Creative accounting? I love the sound of that hehe, as you say, as long as you benefit.
Good Luck & Good Health

Hi Katie, I too was only given 11 days notice. I have lost a few lbs mostly water though. I am having Jelly, 4 pieces of fruit, 2 yoghurts and 3pt skim milk I struggled a little day 5 and 6 so had half tin ww veg soup. I make sure i drink at least 2 litres of liquid along side it too. I had my pre op assessment last thursday and had to go back yesterday for another bloodtest. Carol from pre op called me this mornign and everything was fine with my pre op and bloods.

Take care Katie and I am here if you want to chat.

Hi Suzanne, I'm so glad all you're bloods etc are good, I was so churned up for my pre assesment that I had to leave work early yesterday. I did my last shift today and it was strange knowing I'll go back with a whole new lifestyle! I'm sooo excited now I just want it to be Saturday already lol. Xxx

That last day in work was very emotional for me too.. I was doing well until that point. You will be fine though I found a calmness sort of came over me after that and I was so focused on what I had to do I didnt recognise myself. Wishing you the very best of luck, see on the loosers bench very soon xx

Mandy that is so true, when I finnished work I went to see a dear friend of mine and my grandma which was almost like a last farewell which was so strange as was in a sense, I'm well and trully putting my old life to rest in preperation for a whole new chapter. When I got home I made my hubby's tea which was the juiciest rump steak, peppercorn sauce and homemade potato wedges you've ever seen, that used to be my fave tea and do you know what? I didn't mind having a glass of milk and watching him enjoy it. I'm all packed and ready to roll, just going to make the house spotless in the morning to keep me busy as there is no way on earth I can come home and look at dusty skirts as it will drive me mad not being able to do it lol. Thanks Girls xxxx

Ha ha yes the big clean! I think a lot of us do that.. my house has never been so clean as it was before I went in for my op..xx

My last day today, finishing at lunchtime so i can go home and cut the grass and strim the edges before ensuring i have packed my bag properly for the millionth time :)

I hope your last day goes as well as mine did! Wow this is strange, I do believe everyone having this surgery is of the same mind set. My hubby and I did all the garden last night as he wants it nice for when I'm off. He keeps saying he won't recognize me by the end of august as I'll have lost weight and have a tan haha. I just need to get myself in the bath and that's me sorted! Borking with nerves this morning, I'm not eating a mortal thing now as I honestly think it'll come straight back up. Xxx

*hugs* butterflys aplenty in your tummy then by the sounds of it! not long to go though. x

Time to get sorted before mam and dad get here, speak this afternoon or on the ward tomorrow :)

Good luck to the two of you - Although I am sure you won't need luck, just the love of a good surgeon LOL.

I am on day 4 (of16) of the just milk diet, and coping really well. The only hard time is cooking for hubby in the evening, but I batch cooked lasagna's and shepards pies, and packaged lots of little portions of meat in the freezer, so no extra's. I also have my oxo drink while cooking so it feels like I am having something meaty. I still could have mugged him for his chicken thighs (with skin!!!) on day one though. But it makes you think why couldn't I control my eating before? But then I guess when your life - or life after surgery - depends on it, you can do anything. Also this would not be possible long term, we know there is an end date OPERATION DAY.

I look forward to hearing how you got on when you are home and up to the old computering again. All the best. xx T.

Good luck to you all as your surgery date is near I wish you all lots of luck. I will be following you all. I'm not quite there yet I have my pre assessment next we'd then bypass at Chichester on 24th august. Good lick to you all luv kaz x

6 Day's post op and I feel like I've won the lottery. Thank you all for the good luck and kind words. I'm on my new journey now and embracing every step of the way, I know there are going to be one or two stumbles but I have the love and support from a fantastic hubby and family that they'll soon haqve me back on the straight and narrow. Love and Luck to All xxxxxxx

Hi Katie
im waiting for my diet sheets to come through, im in srh on 13th august, whens your op?
might see you there hehe :)
xx

i see there are different types of pre op diets! do u get to choose which 1 u do or does it depend on the surgeon? xx

I though it might depend on the surgeon, but Sarah S and I are having the same surgeon but different diets. I'm NHS and on the 4pts SS milk, but Sarah who sadly had to go private, has been given the Low Fat Low Carb diet. So I guess it is to do with the hospitals more than the surgeon.
