Heya everyone, so I am nearly 3 weeks post up and wonder when can I start eating mince. My provider says cottage pie fish pie etc but would like to make it homemade so is it ok for me too cook mince or is it still a bit early?

If it is well cooked, I don't see why not. I did & coped fine. You won't be able to eat much, though. It is bliss after such a bland diet. My dietician seems to advocate moving towards more varied diet quicker than most, but I have not had anything yet that has upset me. Good luck, sweetie xxx :)

Hi

Your dietician probably advised to have cottage or fish pie as the mash will make it easier to eat.

Although you wont be able to eat as much as you would pre band, most banders can eat leading upto a small ready meal portion towards the later part of the mushy stage (unlike bypassers who seem to be able to eat very little at first, for us that comes later - with fills).

Its always good to make your own meals but there may be a tendancy to make too much or serve too much.

Go steady and you will be fine xxx

Thanks everyone I had it and boy felt like I was in heaven. Took my time ate slowly and chewed chewed and chewed some more. This is defo what I an struggling with the most learn to slow down while eating and take my time but I am learning slowly :)

I bought children fork n spoon, I find it better as u take smaller mouthfuls and I put fork down between each bite xx

Good idea joey might have to try this :)

It's lovely when you get to eat something with a bit of flavour and texture isn't it after all those fluids!!
