Minimum weight for surgery?

Is there a minimum weight for surgery? I am hoping to go for a private gastric band and am 5f6 and 15.5 stone BMI 34
Any help please? Also rough idea on cost?

I wouldnt have thought that was heavy enough for WLS, But the Private sector may be different.

I don't think you will qualify as bmi should be greater than 40. Thats nhs anyway. Good luck with your journey. I think band is about £7000.00.

You are very unlikely to get it done on the NHS.

I think you would probably be able to get it done privately although most surgeons prefer a BMI to be at least 35. There are plenty of people who have paid for a band with a BMI less than that though.

I am having mine done in Chichester through Streamline Surgical (Shaw Somers) and the price also depends on your BMI. My BMI is 37 and it is costing £6100 which is the minimum price I think.

Im not certain, but I think as you are going private you will probably be OK. I think it would be unethical for a surgeon to give obesity surgery to someone who wasnt obese (if their BMI was less than 30) but at BMI 34 you should be fine.

I'm not really sure to be honest. I would guess it makes the op a bit more complicated. I think it's the same for the other types of surgery too.

Not all companies charge different fees by BMI. Lower BMI is more than likely less complicated - success and number of fills will depend on the individual and not they're start weight.
