My first stall and carb fobia!

Hello everyone,

Since my op I lost 16 kg which I am pleased about, BUT in the last week I haven't lost anything and even PUT ON 1 kg (2 pounds):sigh:!

I am not doing anyhting differently, actually I am more strict with myself and I even started excersising!

YUK!

Another thing, I am developing carbofobia!

My usual day is

Wake up - herbal tea
Then nothing till about 11.30am when I have some salad (salad, somthing proteiny (chicken, prawns, cheese etc.) and dressing (olive oil, balsamic vinigar, mustard).
Then about 3pm another salad and youghurt (either weight watchers one or activia low fat one)
Then in the evening another salad and youghurt (I love salad).

Also water and herbal teas during the day and I also sometimes nick stuff from kids/hubbys plate.
I recon I don't take more then 800 kcal a day.

And I don't touch simple carbs... Well almoust any carbs. Sometimes I make myself lentil soup and then live off it for a day...

I am just tooo scared to try toast or cereal or bread... Not that it will make me dump or sick, but that that I will put weight back on! I just know that even looking at carbs will make me fatter!

hi
you had your op about the same time as me, did you have a band or a bypass? I actually had a weight gain right at the beginning of my post op journey, our body does strange things, it will still be in a state of shock and trying to go in to self preservation mode. Eventually it will have to let go, and you will go on losing weight.
Also is it your time of the month? sometimes we can hold on to water.
I have tried minimal amounts of bread but it leaves me feeling pretty uncomfortable so try to avoid when possible.
Keep plugging on, the weight simply has to come off.

Lass - thank you for your reply :)

I had a bypass :)
I was thinking that maybe it is witch days coming on:eek: I am still not sure about my cycle as I had a coil fitted and I am not yet too regular...
Hopefully it will shift in a few days :)

If you don't mind me asking, what do you eat on the average day?

Don't panic, when you start exercising you often put on a bit of weight as the muscles swell and weigh more. Make sure you take your measurements too. You aren't eating enough to make the weight gain be fat. You could try to eat breakfast earlier so that your metabolism gets working rather than waiting until 11ish - even just if it is a small banana or a yoghurt, but you will get stalls in your journey as it's your body's chance to catch its breath.

Hi wombat,
course i dont mind you asking! Yesterday i had
a pint of ss milk for brekkie
lunch a chicken snack wrap from macdonalds (i ate on the run yesterday!)
tea just some chicken & salad
snacks - dairylea dunker, special K cereal bar, quavers.

i have started last week going to the gym too, i go 3 times a week, sometimes when you start to exercise, you build up muscle, sometimes that can be a small gain to begin with, the weight will come off wombat

I really think this 'gain' isn't really a gain at all, it's just a blip. But what I will say is I don't actually think you are eating enough tbh. I agree with Stellap in that you should definitely be eating a breakfast & much earlier too, to kick-start your metabolism after fasting all night. I can understand you wanting to avoid carbs, but there are plenty of other things you could be having to slightly boost your calorie intake, like fruit & dairy (yogs etc). I don't want to sound like a naggy old Mum, but it is a fine line between replacing bad eating habits with new ones xxx

Thanks girls for your replies! :)

I will try to add breakfast to my day. Will just youghurt and some fruits be ok?

Lass - I used to looove special K bars! Don't have the guts to try it yet...
I am in just such a panic fear to jeopordise my weight loss by eating carbs... I sort of keep telling myself "when Ill get to x weight Ill try that or that..." I know it is wrong, but i just can't help it...

Probably it is not normal, but every day I actually have to make myself eat... If I could, I woukld probably stop eating alltogether. I am not going to, but I just feel like it...

Hi Wombat
everything in moderation, its all trial and error i think from now on. I have tried chocolate and i have dumped on it, in a way i am glad i dump on it, as i was a proper choc addict, i do miss it, but i will have to learn to live without it. I do allow myself carbs, they are pretty hard to avoid permanently, but as we can only eat small amounts, i am sure a small amount of carbs wont do any harm, as long as you keep plugging away at the protein as much as you can.

I was told by my surgeon & dietician to have 3 healthy carbs per day, one with each meal.

And thank goodness for that because I don't think that I would be able to follow an almost zero carb diet for ever!!!

I was told by my surgeon & dietician to have 3 healthy carbs per day, one with each meal.

It's really funny how each individual provider has their own advice on almost every aspect, isn't it?! I'm not surprised we end up confused! My provider advises us to get our protein in first, then veg & only have a low GI carbs if we have room after the protein & veg. Bizarre.

Yay yay!!!

Stepped on the scales this morning and 1 kg gone!!!

That brings me to grand total of -18kg in almoust 2 months!!:D:D:D

Well done with the loss Wombat.

I do feel that you should eat a bit more protein. I was told, protein, veg, fruit and then carbs. You also need protein to ensure that you dont lose lean muscle.

I increased my protein this week as I was at a few functions and thought I would put on because I felt full, but lost more which suprised me so they must be telling me right.

well done hun, i knew it would come off

Thank you girls for support! :hug99:

I sort of still think that any day now something will happen and I will stop loosing weight.
I think it hasn't really sunk in that bypass permanent (sp?).

Also treated myself to the sinfully expensive Clarins total body lift cream!! £38 in Boots and I got it for free!!!! Have been saving up my Boots points to buy Chanel perfume, but decided cream will be handier for me!
Will try it today after bath. Also bought scrub and those massage brushes! Just hoping to keep up the regime of doing it at least once a day.
I am in peace that after 2 c-sections my tummy will need doing but I still have hope for my legs and arms.

lol we should have been separated at birth wombat! we had our bypasses in the same week, i save my boots points for coco chanel (my fave) i have had 3 sections, and i was just saying to my dad today, i know the weight is coming off, but it just feels like a dream, even though i am almost 9 weeks post bypass it still feels surreal, and it will stop any day now.
Weird eh?

lass - hehehehe :D :) :hug99:

I always wanted a sister (I am an only child) :D

Sorry for me asking you, but... I have a huge (I mean HUGE overhang of fat+skin after my c-section). Sorry for tmi, but I can't even see my crotch without lifting the horrendous stomcah... And it is all covered in strechmarks!
Do you have the same problem or is it just me...?

yes i am afraid so, if i breathe in it lifts slightly but if i am relaxed it covers everything!
I am not sure that for me is something to do with the sections, i have always had a massive tummy, it does worry me thought once its not filled with fat i will just look like a melted candle. That is why i have have been hitting the gym 5 times a week, it needs all the help i can give it!
