I've not smoked since June last apart from my surgery giving up fags was the best thing I've ever done and much easier than giving up food. If you can do it now you wont look back! I hope to god I never ever smoke again, even the smell now makes me feel sick.
I was lucky that I didnt need help but the GP's and nurse practioners offer so much help now it maybe worth a trip to see them for a chat xxx

I did it using the chewing gum. I smoked from being 12 years old to being 52. What an idiot. All of that money and health wasted on smoking.
I feel a million times better since I gave up.
The good thing about giving up with chewing gum (was it called Nicorette, difficult to remember now) was that whenever I had a weak moment I could still have a ciggy. It took me about 8 months to stop. I smoked about 20 cigarettes in that 8 months.
The chewing gum really does work. You can have as much or as little as you like and it really does give you a nicotine rush.
Good luck with stopping when you try again.

Try adding up how much you could save in a year if you stopped.
I smoked Bensons and they were £5 a pack when I was smoking. I am a lot better off now, as you can imagine, than I was when I was smoking. Imagine..... 5 years of £5.00 a day. thats over £9,000 and I often used to smoke more than 20 a day. I think I have saved myself about 10 thousand pounds as well as saving myself from a puffed out wheezy life.

do you have to give up smoking before sugery??my surgeon hasnt mentioned this to me,it was clearly in my notes that i smoke 10 a day,i would give up if i had to just thought he wouldve mentioned this to me ??? xx

It wasn't actually mentioned to me Tracy but when i went for my bloods the week before, the nurse said i should try. The receptionist told me not to worry to much, that most people just cut down but then i got sent some info a day or two before and it said in bold writing that you MUST give up 4 weeks before! I was a nervous wreak but all went fine. Im not advocating that tho, just my experience.x

oh my! doctors for me on monday then lol its sooo hard, nicotine is the only thing that keeps me sane tbh i dont drink i never go out so therefore smoking is my bit of pleasure big boooo xx
