Not been on for a while and have bits and bobs going around in my head so I will just put it all down - sorry
Had my band done on 17th May, was worried that my liver had not shrunk, but I was told afterwards I was a star pupil. The other person when on the operating table did not have the op as the liver was too big. The first 4 or 5 days I was in pain at night and wondered if I had, through my tears at 3 in the morning, done the right thing ( I know I have really). My scars are healing good, still struggle to pick things off the floor, but getting stronger each day.
EATING I am not sure if they have filled my band with anything yet or what size band I have, but my weight loss with the milk diet is 12lb and I was so happy. But I am really hungry the last few days. The food that they said to have (sloppy) is not enough, don't get me wrong I have cut my food back by 80% and not eaten bread, but I have had crisps, veg, crackers, s.egg, etc. Have got on the scales and now put on 2lb. Please advise what is best to do now? I am not excersing yet and I think when I am back at work next week I will be more active.
Sorry to go on.
Thank you
Nicky xx:eek:

You should be following the eating guide you were given after surgery!!!! You need to heal properly internally so please get back to the plan as soon as possible. If you managed the milk diet preop then I'm sure you can find it within yourself to stick to sloppies a bit longer?
You do not automatically get restriction. I had a whole year before mine was any good!!! I would start exercising when you feel well and are 100% healed and then treat things as though you are on a diet as normal. You need to eat regular meals and not have slider / junk foods or you probably will put weight on! I'm afraid you are going to have to use a lot of self control or the band will not work well for you and you are going to be disappointed. It's not magic and will not work if you eat crap.
You were in temporary VLC starvation mode during the milk diet, then your body is also reeling in shock after having the band put in...so yes it is quite likely you will temporarily put a few pounds back on during the gradual healing and refeeding process...they will stay and increase if you choose to eat rubbish foods!
I had to calorie count to help my band progress and I exercise daily as well. We have to commit to be totally different people when it comes to eating and keeping active.... and having a band is hard! You still have to use will power as ice cream crisps and chocolate rarely if ever get stuck.
If when you are ready to eat solid food properly, you follow proper healthy eating guidelines for the band then it will help you to eat smaller amounts.

I found out the hard way so I am trying to give you the benefit of that so you don't make my mistakes. Please don't take this as me being mean because I promise I have only good intent. You most likely have nothing in your band yet so although you might feel a slight restriction (you are so soon after surgery anyway) you are not going to have the full advantage of it til you get the first/second or even third fill.
My advice, do the sloppy stage correctly first and follow the instructions you have been given xxx

I am a bypasser but from what I have read and learnt on here Neen is exactly right.
I am on sloppies/purees at the moment too and can't say I'm loving it but it has to be done to get the best results from your surgery.
Good luck x

i agree totally with Neen im a experienced bander and what shes telling you is correct, you may have a small fill in the band but that varies with the surgeons, both my bands i had a infill during the op, take Neens advice as its good advice, follow the plan or banding wont work to well....good luck !
