Well hello there you lovely people! My name is Marie and I am here because I have just been referred to the bariatric unit at Walsall Manor. I have a feeling that I am going to be pestering you all for details and info and help along the way!

It looks like you are all doing so very well and I can't wait to begin my journey!

My name is also Marie and i have my Lap-Band surgery on sunday!

There is a lovely section called ''Walsall Massssive'' Under the support groups section..

As good as the title says its for Walsall manor patients, if you would like specific related information!

This place is amazing and everyone is so helpful.. Sometimes they are all that you need when going through this Journey!

Hey Marie I had my gastric bypass with Mr Khan at the Manor in June this year!

We have a support group that meets once a month at Great Wyrley, in Harrisons Sports & Social Club on Wharmwell Lane. the next meet is 7.30 this Monday coming. Why not pop along? It's gonna be a cracker, we have someone from Walsall coming along to talk to us about waiting times etc....

If you're not one for going places on your own first time round then you can email me [email protected] and i'll give you my mobile and meet you in the car park

I heartily recommend it.... Plus Lisa is making cake yay Bypass friendly cake and delish lol xxx

My apologies for the delayed reply - I have been celebrating my 30th birthday all weekend!!


I am very excited and can't wait to hear.
Can anyone tell me how long their initial wait to hear after the referral was?

I am also confused as to what to go for, as my initial thought was a band, but I see a lot of people have had bypasses? Is either one recommended for a certain type/amount of weight loss required?

Hi all, thanks for your lovely replies!
I just typed out a response and clicked to submit but it seems to have disappeared!! ah well....here goes again lol

I would love to know the waiting time between referral and contact from the hospital from people, so I can gage how long I should be waiting! Obviously I want something in the post tomorrow lol but I know realistically that's not gonna happen.
