Hello there! Welcome to the forum x Hope you enjoy it here!
Why not give us some info about you x

I have recently been refered for a gastric band, got funding agreed and have chosen the hospital I want to go to so just waiting for my appointment now. Four years ago I had a gastric band and lost nine stones but 18 months ago it slipped and for seven days my body rejected food and fluids, I went into hospital and they discovered my band was cutting onto my stomach, I nearly died was in there for a week on morphine and they had to remove my band. Since then I have put on seven stones and although I was poorly before I am very depressants and fat again!!

Oh thank you. When I had it done before I did a pre op low fat diet but this time have Been told about a milk diet which I'm dreading as I hate milk, does anyone know if they give you any other options than drinking milk?

hi,so sorry you have had a bad time ,hope it all goes smoother this time x you should ring and ask,i had to change my pre op diet (awaiting bypass)from milk ,as i have gall stones which are agony if i drink milk, to a very low fat diet with unlimeted green veg and 100g of protein, plus drinks ,and 2 pices fruit a day ,im sure they would change your diet if it was a problem, good luck

Oh I hope they do as the thought of drinking milk makes me gag lol. I have been reading through the posts and advice and wish I had known about this site when I had my first band as I didn't have any support and this site is fantastic with such positive influential people x

Hi and Welcome xx

Hello, and welcome to the site. I am sure you will find all the information you need regarding your weight loss journey

Please can I have some advice? Why do some people have bypass and others band? What's the difference?? Why do some people choose one and not the other?

People with more weight to lose tend to have a bypass. You lose the weight quicker but it is more invasive as your 'plumbing' is altered.
