Hello everyone I'm new on here and thought I'd introduce myself. I had my sleeve done on Friday so really new everything went fine it came home on Saturday. Struggling to get enough fluid done. Was just wondering what most of you drink, I've had water juice and milk but what about protein what form do you drink this in and do you gave problems. Thanks for reading xx

Can anyone even see this thread I think I may be doing something wrong as no replys or views. It seems like a pretty helpful group so would love if someone could let me know if they can at lease see this post. Could really do with a bit of help ? xx

Hi - I can see you!
I had my sleeve Oct last year.
What has your provider told you to have? I remember having protein shakes like complan and slim fast. It's important you keep to the diet they have given you as they do seem to vary.
I hope you're recovering well - and remember to sip those fluids x

Hi Emma thanks for replying it's good to know there's someone out there. My fluids only sheet doesn't list slimfast or complan only water, juice, milk, bovril, oxo and clear soup. I struggled getting the soup down And I hate bovril and oxo but ok with the rest of the fluids just the amount i managed 1300 yesterday and upto 1100 so far today but that's just water, juice and milk. I thought it might be good to add slimfast or Complan as I know they are more nutritious but wasn't sure whether they are allowed in this stage. How have you done since your sleeve op Emma would love to know how people are finding it? Xx

Hi Louise, welcome!
I had my sleeve on 30.4.14 and followed the liquid diet provided to me from my team. Protein came from slimfast shakes, milk, milk powder added to milk, flavoured milk (although high in sugar) build up soup with no bits and complan. I also used the weetabix shakes and when I was out and about, the Pret yoghurt smoothies are good. For me the biggest challenge was and still is, being a sipper not a guzzler! I find drinking constantly through a sipper bottle or a straw really helps.
Good luck with everything. :)

Thanks for replying guys it's good to know there's someone out there. I was just wondering about the slimfast and complan as I know these are quite nutritious and I don't want to be lacking in anything. On my list is just day water, fruit juice, milk, oxo, bovril and clear soup. I hate oxo and bovril yuk ? but thought slimfast might be good. Struggled to get enough fluids down yesterday only managed 1300 but today I'm already on that so feeling a lot better today I'm going to have a slimfast shake soon. How are you girls doing after your surgery I love to know xx

Yes I made the goal of 2000mls and managed a whole slimfast shake although it took a while and not the best tasting was so sweet ? x

I started with complan the day after my op but some were too rich and didn't agree with me.
I've lost 7 stones since my op (no pre op diet) and just another 3 to go. I don't eat bread, rice, pasta, sugary foods etc and am very strict.
I love my sleeve and don't regret it for one second. Stick with it, it gets easier x

hi I'm just a week or so ahead, 2 more days on fluids. I used milk and slim fast and mixed hi protein yoghurts with milk to water them down. First week was hard but now drinking enough and goes down quicker, sounds like you're doing just fine

Vegas, thanks for the tips I'll give that a try. Good luck with your weight loss journey lets keep each other informed it would be nice to share with someone who at the same stage xx

It was easier than I thought. I had some mash potato and blended sausage meat, I know sausage isn't exactly healthy but it was easy to blend and I wanted a meat type food as it's been 5 weeks since I last had the taste. Anyway it was really nice! I ate about 8 teaspoons in all before I felt full. i didn't feel a pressure or anything I could just kinda sense that it was enough for now, I was still able to eat a yoghurt about an hour later. So far so good.

That's great Vegas sounds delicious I can't wait have some proper food lol. I'm not hungry just miss the taste but not complaining nothing taste nicer than thin as they say lol xx
