Newbie...Surgery next week, getting nervous!

I am really started to feel anxious about surgery next week. *gulp* getting bypass.

Is there a special list of things I should bring to the hospital or get for afterward? Tips? Pointers?

Hi, welcome to the site. Have a read through diaries from people who have had their bypass as just about everyone suffers with anxiety before their ops. I am pre op so can't offer you any words of wisdom I'm afraid. There are lots of bypassers here so I am sure someone will jump in and give you some pointers.

There is a thread about what to bring into hospital, I will try and find it and post it for you.

Normal to be nervous,but it's the start to a whole new life x
As for packing for hospital,I hardly used anything,I took a great big holdall in and used only a few things.

We are at your side if we can help Angel and send our love to you, if you go into the search bar on here you'll find a hospital bag guide which will help and if we can do anything to help, just say... I'm only 9 weeks out and now feel as though I have had nothing done, apart from eating child size or less portions of healthy food... so it's been a great, positive outcome in my case and I'm delighted with my Bypass.

The feelings that you are going through are quite normal..i was a nervous wreck at the time..im 6 weeks out tomorrow and feel great..you will be fine but its a process you just have to go through..you will never look back.xx

Hi there , I cannot help much but I am having my bypass next week, Thursday at Chelsea and Westminster . I cannot praise this site enough, everyone is so friendly and the advice and support given is superb. When I am having a "moment" I come on here and it gives me the encouragement I need just by reading the wonderful stories. Only wish I could see pictures but that will come after 50 posts.

What sort of pre op diet have you done?

Stefanie, what kind of diet have I NOT done? Haha. I wasnt put on a pre-op diet from the doc tho if that's what you mean.
