Gonna be thinner girl
Hello
I have been reading the forums avidly and have a couple of questions if thats ok?
I live in Chesterfield derbyshire - anyone got any idea where I would be sent to for the op?
Secondly, I am seeing my GP next week to confirm that i want to go ahead. Can anyone list for me (or point me in the direction of another thread) that tells me the routine up to the op?
I have seen diets, milk diets, endoscopy, blood tests etc. What actually happens, and what happens if you can't lose weight pre op?

Thanks
Vron

Hi Vron, it varies so much from area to area unfortunately. In most places, there is funding to be sought, then routine tests such as bloods, ECG, MRSA swabs etc. Some hospitals do sleep tests, lung tests and others, but you should get told along the way.

Hi Vron, :welcome2:to the site!

I'd agree with the previous post that areas do differ (very frustrating!) some have shorter waiting lists than others, and some have different criteria that they follow, eg weight management, pills etc, before wls. I'm not in your area so can't really advise on the exact process that you will face.

Also different people will have different tests depending on their needs/health status.

I'm at the start of the process in Sunderland - all I know is that I have group session on the 8th Sept, with an anticipated 4 month wait to see the dietician after that; and a further 4 month wait to see the surgeon before I go on the waiting list...

Probably no help at all; but welcome to the site anyhoo.

Hi Vron

and welcome to :welcome:the site.

as Nova and Shel have said, everywhere's different.

The best thing you can probably do is stick around and maybe someone from your area will be along to give you the low down on how your area does it.

Not everywhere requires you to lose weight pre-op but it is a good idea to begin to try to change your bad eating habits now.
Sunderland where I'm having my surgery one won't put you on the waiting list until you've lost the target weight they set. For me that was 4 kgs.
I think all the post-op people on here will probably tell you that WLS is a tool that will work best if you change your lifestyle.

Good luck with your process through the system honey.
