Hi everyone just thought I'd introduce myself. I've had my first appointment at derby and got to see the dietician again in October. I haven't quite decided which surgery I want yet so I'm after all the info I can get!

hi and welcome to you
read through some of the older posts that might help you decide and if you have any questions just ask someone will have the answer for you
good luck on your journey:D

Thanks. I get quite a lot of acid reflux so I'm thinking of going for the bypass. The thought of such a big operation is a bit scary though!

Welcome and good luck with your journey x

the whole thing is rather scary but it is a road we all have to go down

Well it's good to chat to people going through the same thing. I have only told my 2 closest friends so far and I'm not sure I want anyone else to know apart from my family.

Hi Sarah, welcome to the best forum around:) Have you found the BOSPA website? I found it excellent in helping me to decide what surgery to go for.

It's really difficult to know which surgery to go for, when you have co mobidities it makes it slightly easier to know which to go for. I wish you luck with your decision :)

I don't have any co morbidities. I'm 36 and have a BMI of 60. I had always thought I wanted a band but now I'm worried about my reflux and also worried that I would still try to overeat with it and end up with a pouch. I'm thinking the bypass will suit me better but obviously that's more risky surgery. I know somebody with a band but don't know anyone who has had a bypass which is why I'm reading through this site.
