Hello everyone,

I've just joined this site today and a little unsure of how to use it; although very sure that its gonna be a fab support through my weight loss journey. Im at the very beginning and have had a group meeting at Sunderland on 10th August. I'm looking forward to going through this journey but at the same time feel quite nervous... any reassurance and tips would be gratefully appreciated. xx

welcome!! the site is pretty easy to follow once you get your head around it..have a little look around..i am sure you will enjoy it...there is an amazing amount of support and help on here...all you need to do is ask..... you need to have 50 posts before you have full access to all the information/profiles on here...but if you start playing the word association games and what not, it wont be long before you reach 50 xx

Hi Heah, and Welcome.
Everyone on here has lots of useful advice for both pre and post op. If you check out the home page you can see boards which are specific to your type of surgery. the quickest responses will always be if you post in the right place. Don't be afraid to ask anything. We've all either been there or are going through it and so nothing is embarrassing any more.

Good luck on your journey

Hi Heah, Welcome to the best site on the net :) No one judges on here any any question is usually answered as someone will have been through any scenario you can think of. There are loads of SRH people on here so good luck with your journey :D

Hi and Welcome Heah, you will find this site very addictive, everyone here is extremelly friendly and very helpful. I am under SRH too xx

Hi Heah and welcome to the site! I'm under SRH too and also from South Shields! It will be good to share our weight loss journeys. just need SRH to get a wiggle on with their waiting lists! fingers crossed it all comes round quickly! :)

ps I too am addicted to this site! better than Heat magazine and much more interesting (and informative ) reading. xxx

Thanks for the post Lynne, it would be great to share our weight loss journeys, I'd be very interested in knowing how long you have been in the system and your experiences so far. Unfortunately I'm virtually just at the beginning and haven't been allocated a consultant yet, but I'm hopeful that with some patience my journey will be pick up momentum soon. I agree this site is great xxx

Helloooo...... here goes the story so far... I hope you're sitting comfortably! I was referred by my GP back in June 2009, attended seminar in October 2009, appointment with the dietician Feb 2010 and given weight loss target of 4kg ( just what I had gained from seminar to dietician appointment - got a bit carried away over Xmas, as you do!) anyway, from then had 6 ... yes 6!... appointments cancelled and was finally seen again by consultant in Feb 11 but as I had not lost the weight (hadn't gained anything either) he wouldn't put me in the list. saying that, because they had messed me around so much he agreed to send me for endoscopy (18 week wait) and agreed to put me on list if I had lost the weight by then, which I had done. I had the endoscopy at the end of July (horrible :-() and now on list. I was under Mr Small but Mr Balupuri did endoscopy put me on list and was lovely! he said at that point he thought waiting list for surgery was about 6-8 months, but to check with the secretary, which I did and she said 4-6 months! that scared me because that means that it's now possibly 3-5 months! where does the time go!

I'm sure your journey will be quicker than mine. my only advice is to pester them to make sure you are being progressed through the system. it will all come around sooner than you think! :)

phew! that was a mouthful!

Thanks Lynn, what a journey so far! Sounds as though you have been patient though, I had heard that if you didn't loose the weight you weren't considered. The 6 cancelled appointments sounds unbelievable, not sure how you coped. Think I would have been up a height... still your getting there and that's the main thing. Have you lost much weight pre-op, i've read that some people are feeling stressed about keeping it off between appts. I'd probs feel like that unless of course I manage to loose loads pre-op (which is doubtful). I'm probably rambling now so I'll end it there for now. xx

... ahem! ... I somehow seem to have "found" the 4kg that I had "lost" for the endoscopy as been on holiday for the last 2 weeks, so, yes very stressful trying to keep it off ! Wish me luck on extreme diet no. 4,567! :) x

Hello Heah and welcome from me also. Great to have you with us. I love this forum and have learned so much from everyone and received such a huge amount of support and help and I know that it will be the same for you. Best of luck on your journey to the new you :)

Thanks for the warm welcome Josiegirl and Crackers, Josie - good luck for the 12th and happy birthday!! Crackers - hope you finding this site really interesting and informative, I know I am. xx

:welcome2::welcome2::welcome2::welcome2::welcome2:
Heah and Crackers.

I am also with SRH, and have waited 17 months from referral. I am now waiting for my endoscopy, then hopefully on the list for my surgery. I think with Sunderland, the more weight you can shift pre-op, the better it is for you. I think some have even been fast-tracked for large losses

Wow Jema thats an amazing weight loss.. Hope you get listed for surgery very soon.. I'll look forward to seeing the post that confirms it. xx
