Hi all,

I've seen a thread earlier that both angered and upset me.

I think the NHS have been amazing for me in my life and struggle with my weight.

What I ask is please can you state in 1 or 2 words how the NHS/ GPs have been for you?

Mine has been Amazing and Helpful.

Thanks! xxx

reluctant, but caved in with my persistance lol

Regarding WLS - not interested, I nowhere near met there criteria of BMI over 65 without comorbidities!

65? wow!!! thats a lot!

Some good GPs some rubbish (I just put them on my "don't see this one again" list)
One arrogant consulatant. But every other one that I have had to see be it myself or family. Fantastic

Over a lifetime i have had my life saved twice by the NHS !

It certainly is Caren but no doubt had my BMI got anywhere near to this I would have developed co-morbidities :(
crikey, no wonder you went private, i wish i could :( ah well its all sent to try us lol xxx

Caren, do you not have funding?

Where are you on your journey? xxx
god only knows lol no i dont have funding yet, hopefully i will. I keep phoning the pct and they keep threatening to phone me back but never do lol

Yes please do hunni!

I was turned down 3 times and appealed and got funding in September! I will never quit and I am glad I've had to fight because it's made me realise how determined I actually am to have it done.

Good luck with it, sweetie, you'll get there. Unfortunately when I was in your boat I didn't realise there was a forum like this but let me know if you have any questions.

Where would you have the surgery? xxx

thats very kind, thank you :)
i think the hospital that deals with my area is Hommerton, unless i win the lottery lol

I went private, but my GP has been amazing and very supportive. He would have fought for me to get funding but I wasn't prepared to wait any longer and knew it would be a long hard slog to et it.

It was a struggle but was the best £10,500 I've ever spent :)

Two words, Vespa .... FIRST CLASS ... no one will ever get me to criticise any of the health professionals who I have dealt with along my WLS journey. I do think I have a had a relatively easy ride compared to some, but joining this forum has made me even more grateful for my gift. xxx :D:D

Hear hear !

I think, looking at this, that GPs can have things that fall through the net but, ultimately are there to help and most of us have eventually got it and will get it.

I praise the NHS we are so lucky to have them they are amazing with the budgets they have to go by and the work most of them have to put in.

Here's to the wonderful National Health Service!
