past my goal down to 11st
well weight day yesterday and after a great start now going down hill only lost lb this week put do not know why because i am eating less do not eat breakfast anymore only eat twice a day and one of those is salad but must try harder maybe because still having trouble going to toilet .any advice would be great full thank you:cry:
 
may be you not eating enough .....hun i know we cant eat muych but we need to eat enough of the right stuff i hear.................although not yet having my op i can only say this is what i have heard and i will have all this to come .

I agree with Tracey, you're not eating enough hun, and only eating twice a day will slow your metabolism right down which is why you're not losing anything. People are often under the misconception that the less we eat the more weight we will lose, but unfortunately it doesn't work like that. Our bodies need energy (food) just to function and depending your weight, can be as much as 1500kcals a day before you even start thinking about any form of exercise, even day to day stuff like walking up stairs etc.

You need to increase your food intake and aim to eat something every 2-3 hours, so breakfast, lunch & dinner with a snack between each and a hot milky drink before bed. I think if you do this you'll find the weight comes off slightly easier. Good luck hun xx
 
Any loss is a loss regardless of how much it is. I've really only lost 2-3lbs a week since having the op, but it's been constant.

As others have said, it's important to get something in throughout the day. I usually can't face breakfast but I start every day with a milky coffee (125mls ss milk) then the rest of cup with hot water. I know it's not 'food' as such, but at least it's something. I usually follow this with fruit or a yoghurt.

Any dietician will tell you that it's important to kick start your metabolism & you need to eat a minimum of 3 times a day.

Right being crude, I weighed myself this morning, then during the day I went to the big looooo, I then weighed myself again and I was 2lbs lighter. So that could be the reason.

Try not to beat yourself up about weighing, I have decided that when I leave for the hospital tomorrow that I am having my scales removed as they seem to cause so much trouble to people's minds.
 
Carol.... I'm pre op but i can see you're not eating enough! Salad is not a meal unless accompanied by some protein...

Look at it this way:-

If you wanna take your car for a drive, you have to put the petrol in first else it wont work!!!

hi all i no what you are saying but if i eat anymore then i will not lose anything just put it on i was losing 3lb a week now just 1lb am i doing something wrong i am drinking a lot more not water but oasis diluted.
 
Hi Carole

I understand that you are worried about gaining weight, but you are really early on and in the prime time for loosing still.

Compare what you eat now to what you ate pre surgery and ask yourself how it's possible for you not to loose weight?

There is no way that you are eating enough and your body has gone into starvation mode and will try it's utmost to stop you from loosing any of your fat stores.

You need to up your protein intake and eat regular meals through out the day or you are really going to struggle in the next few weeks to loose anything and it will make you feel more down than you are.

Have you spoken to your dietician? You need to discuss your current intake with them and I bet they give you similar advice to what others have posted.

Galm is exactly right hun, plus you are in danger of losing muscle mass and not fat unless you start eating more. If this happens you will feel weak & lethargic and possibly make yourself very ill.

Please listen to what everyone is telling you :hug99:
 
hi all first thank you all for you help and support and second i have now started eating more i am now eating weetbix for breakfast salmon with salad for dinner or chicken and eat lunch out jacked potato with beans
 
Hi Carol, just to confirm what everyone else has said - if you don't eat enough your body will go into starvation mode and hang on to what it has already (our bodies are great survival machines). Your metabolism will only start working burning off fat when eat so if you aren't eating until lunchtime then your body is not burning anything until then. I was worried about eating too many calories but found that the less I ate the less I lost - upping my protein, drinking plenty and giving my body more calories made it think it was getting plenty so didn't hold on to what it had! Just came back from 2 week holiday in Italy where I ate much more than I have since the surgery and am 2lbs lighter than when I went - go figure!

Check the sugar content of oasis I think it is quite high
As the others have said you must eat to loose and the right food will start to regulate your movements
