Hi

Was wondering if anyone else is becoming obessed with weighing themselves???

I'm so stressed over losing my pre op amount I find myself getting weighed at least once a day sometimes more, is anyone else doing this

Haylz xx

I'm obsessed, every day, sometimes twice daily. BUT, I'm not bothered about the weight, it's just a habit I've got into. I know if I will be up or down even before I step on them!

I think it's becoming a habit for me too

I think it because I have to lose my pre op weight that am stressin and obessing so much

X

i found if i weigh myself 2 much its just a dissapointment ur never going 2 lose enough from morning till night 2 show on scales but u might be slightly heavier in the afternoon 2 the morning because of fluids ect.i would lock the scales away and use them weekly at most

I am exactly the same especially to the run up to my pre-op appt, I was on twice a day and since I have been on once a day. I know you shouldn't cos you can fluctuate with fluids etc. but i just can't help it, Karen x

Hi i do the same get up and jump on the scales every day.

I just feel this massive amount of pressure to get the pre op weight off asap, and the only thing that puts my mind at rest is jumping on the scales.

Does anyone know what would happen if u didn't lose all the pre op weight, like a few lbs off would they make u wait xx

At SRH they will not do opp if you not lost the weight they told you to lose.

i was doing it twice a day drove myself insane so i threw the scales out and now get weighed on boots scales every friday x

When I went for my pre-op, the nurse took me to the scales and on the way she said, "I hope you've been good because we've already cancelled 1 appt today". Luckily I had lost 4lb since last visit.

What diet are you doing?

thats not allways true about srh not doing opp,i lost my weight np,but over xmas i gained again then got a call in march out of the blue saying we can do ur surgery on 17th april,i agreed even though i new i had gained thinking i have 3 and a half weeks 2 lose it but even on the diebetic pre opp diet i never lost it all.i was all 4 cancelling my pre opp apointment with the nurse but i never, when she weighed me fully clothed in the afternoon i was 5k more than what i had lost as my target, i was shocked and thought thats it its cancelled but when the nurse dennise morris off here spoke 2 mr balapuri she spoke up 4 me and he agreed 2 still do the opp as long as gained no more till the opp,i no i was lucky 2 still get it and i will allways be greatfull 2 dennise 4 the help she gave me,it just shows every 1 is diffrent so never give up u might just win

My routine consists of constant weighing
1. get up get weighed
2. have a wee get weighed again just in case its dropped a bit
3. get dressed get weighed so i know how much i weigh with my clothes on
Then at bed time I get weighed and have normally gained around 2lbs during the day.....It never worries me what I weigh i think it just became a habbit from when i first had my bypass

If you are going to weigh each day, then it is best to weigh first thing in the morning after the loo with no clothes on as this will give you the most accurate reading as for during the day your weight will fluctuate up and down because of what you are drinking and eating as well as how active you are as for sitting too long can pool water retention around the feet and ankles.

Also if you get dehydrated you will tend to retain fluid ...so make sure when dieting to drink water through out the day and not all at once.

I had my first session of CBT today and he picked up on my obsession with the scales. For instance I weighed my self 1st thing in the bathroom then again before my bath in the kitchen, then at the gym this is all because even I'm now going to slimming world and get weighed every thursday morning so having to check to see if I'm losing. Then I get cheesed off when I dont see what I want and it brings me down for the whole day

I have to say I get up, visit the bathroom, then venture down to the kitchen and get weighed each morning, I know I shouldn't but I can't stop myself, especially at the moment, when its showing me I'm losing lol.
