You told me to run for the hills instead of trying that smoked haddock but did I listen? Oh no, and wow do I regret that.

I had 3 small mouthfuls. OMG the pain! Instant temp spike, dizzy, nauseous. Threw up a bit but still in agony. Never again

Oh dear.....that sounds horrible, I wouldnt have thought smoked haddock would have made you ill  Hope you feel better really soon (HUGS) XX

thats weird , why would smoked haddock make you feel so bad its not as if its 'naughty', im glad i read this kay, im only a week out but would have assumed this would be ok later on ??
XXX Dawn

Believe me when you react like that (be it dumping or not) it is really scary. I truly felt like I was going to die a any minute!

Sorry Dawn - we posted at the same time. But same answer re the haddock I gave for Jacqui ;)

I have natural smoked haddock a couple of times a week.

I put a tiny bit in a dish with milk and zap it in the microwave. It's lush.

I've not had any problems with it.

Oh Karen, this is one thing that i'm sorry i was right about, i feel your pain i really do, i've got another 3 bits in the freezer think its my daughters dinner now, i'm not risking it again for a while.......hope your feeling better now ;) xx

I have a cast iron stomach and fish was one of the things that made me sick in the beginning.

I am ok with it now.

I can't do smoked fish of any kind, used to love it

Smoked Mackerel made me feel really really icky and I have the constitution of a horse!

Aww I am sorry to hear this... I love smoked haddock... is it to do with the flavourings? Would plain fillets be alright? xxx

Yup, smoked haddock caused me discomfort. Even now (she says like it was years ago) it doesn't take much to get me too restriction xx

ive had haddock, and found that ive gone off it, the flavour is now too strong for me, but ive also had smoked mackeral and was ok with that, i didnt enjoy it as much as i used to, but it was still nice. im very sensitive to flavours now, they seem a lot stronger than they used to. i can taste salt for a mile away, but i was always a bit sensitive tothat anyway, it just a lot stronger now.

I love salmon pre op.... lets see how I am with it post op

Dawny what you said about salt - Daughter and boyfriend came in with a Domino pizza the other night. I pinched a tiny bit of cheese and pepper/onion off the top and I nearly spat it across the room it was so salty I may as well have shaken the salt pot straight into my mouth. I used to be able to eat a whole domino's pizza and although they made me thirsty during the night I never realised until now HOW salty they are!!

hope your feeling better now ;) xx

I am ok now thanks. I tried to eat again this evening - just some baked beans but with the first mouthful I knew it wasnt going to work so gave up.

Going to bed feeling the most hungry I've felt in a long time. But never mind, another lesson learned.

You would think fish would be easier than beans!Could you eat an egg soft boiled then blitzed.I love eggs and the protein would be good too.

yeah its funny mel isnt it, ive always been sensitive to salt in food, but now, its cos it tastes really salty to me. its really weird how our tastebuds go isnt it.

I remember well in my early days post-op (when I got onto solids) that I craved fish and boy O boy did I suffer when I had it! It got stuck *every* time. Even now, on occasion, I still can't 'do' fish, even when smothered in sauce or mayo.

And on other occasions, I can! Pouches are odd!
