OMG - I FEEL SO FAT

I have just been to the Post Office, the queue was really long. There was an oldish woman infront of me, she said
"Do you want to go in front of me pet, I could never stand for long when I was pregnant"
I said "No you're ok". I didn't have the heart to tell her I wasn't pregnant I was just fat.

Oh sweetie - I feel for ya... she meant well though!!!

I did a disco and was setting up the equipment and one of the guests came over and said that I was in the same predicament as his daughter and pointed over to a very pregnant lady; and when I said 'Ah, no, I'm not pregnant I'm just fat', he still proceeded to feel my belly.

Awww you poor thing, I wouldnt have had the heart to tell her either!! My friend did this with someone and she said she wished the ground would open up and swallow her whole! (HUGS) Im sure you look fine! XX

It's never a good feeling it's never personally happened to me. But what I did hate was being pregnant and no one ever knowing or offering things like this because of my weight. I swear I always wished to be one of those cute preggo women, the ones that are all belly. A stick figure everywhere else. The one time I was pregnant that someone said something ended up making me feel horrible I was like 3 months and someone at the OB office was like "you look like your ready to pop". I was so embarrassed I just giggled and said yeah.

Awww bless... this has happened to me more than once.

A few years ago, I thought I'd try a new hairdresser.

I went to a shop in town and just walked in and took my chances.... and the hairdresser asked me outright as he was doing my hair....'how many months pregnant are you'... I remember wishing the floor would open up and I didn't correct him... but felt wounded and never went back.

It also happened when an optician years ago made an assumption and wrote to my doc and said 'this pregnant lady... ' in a letter... I had the shock of my life when my doc called me in...

Feel for you and it's horrible... particularly when you know that someone is being 'innocently considerate' without full knowledge...

Take care and don't feel on your own with it...

Love and hugs xxx

oh sweetie thats horrible but hold on to the feeling and it will make you more determined to get the op and for it to be a success then you can tell silly old biddies to mind their own business..

Out of that whole story I'm amazed you were able to go to a party a day after having a baby. Wow. And your so right soon these memories will be things we look back on and just be so happy at where we are at.

I totally sympathise Karen...been there done that, take comfort that you are not the only one this has happened to, even if it is mortifying at the time! Your time is coming soon, & you can relish in the thought that this will never happen again <<<big hugs>>> xxx

they are silly small minded people who can go suck a celery stick and hope they get the chornic runs to match their mouth!

Ive had it too, and she too was a elderly lady, i told her im not pregnant just cuddley and im happy that way.... Ok i wasnt happy but she didnt no where to look :D

Hugs hunni xx

Thanks everyone, I am able to laugh about it now reading all your stories, and you're right it won't be long before no-one can mistake me for being pregnant.

It has happened to me before as well but that time I did say I'm not pregnant and this woman fell over herself to apologise and she must have wanted the ground to open and swallow her up she was more embarrased than I was which is why I couldn't do it to this nice old lady, LOL xxx

Lol, i didn't just have a baby, i had a beautiful little girl who upon being born i had to chop all the feet off her romper suits as she weighed in at 11lb 6oz and the size of a 3 month old pmsl xx

Wow, god bless you. You are amazing. My largest was 9 lbs even and that nearly killed me lol.

Oh Karen, I know exactly how you feel! I was once asked when I was due and so I said that I wasn't pregnant but then she said that I must have just had the baby and asked how old it was? So I told her my baby was now 2 years old so I couldn't really blame my being fat on baby weight any more. I made a very quick exit and have never been back since - which is a total pain as this was my local shop but I just can't bring myself to go back.

Both my babies were 7lbs and I thought they were going to kill me at the time. I thought 11lb babies were just urban myths. Thank God my husband did the right thing and made sure there's no chance of any more babies - I'm sitting with my legs crossed just thinking about it, Oww!
