Have replied on your other thread but thought I'd add a bit about who it is you may meet at this appointment.
The team usually comprises of a surgeon, a nurse specialist, a dietician, a medical doctor (endocrinologist or chemical pathologist) they may also have a psychologist or psychiatrist though not all teams have a full time psych member as they seem, in some areas, to be a bit thin on the ground!!
It's possible that this appointment will be a discussion with each member of the team on a one to one basis covering things such as your eating habits (which can influence what procedure you're offered) and relationship with food, any co-morbidities such as sleep apnoea or reflux and any investigations or treatment you may need in relation to that,
A discussion about other medical conditions you may have that can affect your weight such as diabetes, thyroid problems and PCOS. Then the surgeon will want to examine your abdomen to feel organs, see how firm or soft your abdomen is, whether you have any hernia's which could also be repaired at the same time as your surgery.
Finally there will be measurements of weight, height and blood pressure.
You may or may not be given a weight loss target before your next appointment and will be given an explanation of the appointment process, if you don't yet have funding you may be told when funding is applied for and what you need to do before it is applied for.
Hope that all helps,
Tatiana
