So I set up a My Fitness Pal, and yesterday I only consumed 629kcals. No hunger pains. No drama.

Is this not way too less???? Surely I need to get to over 1000 otherwise will I not be ill????

I lost 3.5lb overnight!!!!

Sounds very low to me,but then I am not an advocate of very low calories. Most important ... Follow your providers guidance around the pre-op diet x

Yes I'm eating all the foods listed on the pre diet but I just can't manage more portion.

1/ I'm running out of time to eat the portion I weigh ( chew chew chew )

2/ I'm getting bored

3/ there's nothing high calorie on the diet sheet that I can bulk the diet out with, ( green veg and salad, chicken or turkey or white fish, two eggs a day, herbal or tea with no milk, lemon juice to season or pepper, sugar free jelly, 3 - small portions of fruit... How can I possibly get more calories?!?! ) helllllllppppp.....

Thanks everyone for the help and advice x

Another 2lb off too, I feel I'm going to plateau so quickly because it's coming off so fast pre op... Grrrr.... 5.5lbs since Monday !

Hiya, I found it fairly easy to hit 800 - 1000 cals a day on the pre-op diet. Which was what I was told to aim for.

Everybody's pre-op diet differs slightly from provider to provider.

I was allowed protein 100g twice a day
That could be any meat/fish/eggs apart from Lamb and something else...trying to but, can't remember.

For carbs - 1+1/2 Weetabix in the morning with milk
3 tbs of brown rice (which I used to bulk out my stir-fry's which I lived on).
1 slice of wholemeal bread from small loaf.

I found it easier to fry up the chicken or beef or whatever, put in the stir fry veg, therefore getting my '3 veg per meal' and put in the rice to bulk it out.
Actually made quite a nice meal.

My snacks were fruit but, I had to vary it.

There are ways to get more.
I have to say it takes some time and planning and cooking.
Good luck.

It may do, but the pre-op diet is to shrink the liver ready for surgery and not to lose lbs (although thats a bonus) I wouldnt be overly worried about cals etc either, but stick to their guidelines and you shouldn't have any issues. If you are, then your provider should be able to give you the guidance in relation to their guidelines :)

I'm sticking totally to the foods on the list and nothing else and that's why I'm struggling, I couldn't finish 200g of Quorn I had had enough

It's so difficult , I'm hungry today managed 770kcal yesterday but think I'm going to struggle today to get into 700kcal zone as I've been too busy.

I couldn't eat any of this stuff ... I'm not on any carbs or any dairy at all.....

Literally bland green veg and white meat,
2 eggs and sugar free jelly!

Just struggle getting the calories up

My pre op was similar hun bland white meat or fish with green veg, um egg and celery lunch times and porridge for breakfast, sugar free jelly too i think i was averaging 800-900 cals a day i wasn't hungry at all, despite eating of a side plate. Are you still trying to eat 20 20 20 maybe you should wait till post op for that, try and get some goodness in while you can : ) Wish ya all the best x x x as long as your sticking to the rules you'll be fine :) i added lots of pepper to my food made it a bit more exciting lol

I mad these gorgeous omelette things, sweet ones for breakfast . 2 eggs some Sweetner and lemon juice ( they were like pancakes ) sooo nice

I wholly agree with Crystal there and also read my own post and thought - erm, bad things about it.

'I found it easy...' What a.........!
No - I didn't find it easy - looks like I definitely had more choice than you guys but, no - I didn't find it easy. Easy to hit calorie goal, that was the only easy thing!

All I can say is...you do adjust, coming on to the second week I wasn't nearly so hungry (day 4 and it was like I had the worst PMT ever! Moody, snappy etc) and my stomach and hunger did settle.

Making the kids food and then chucking their left-overs nearly had me fainting with the effort. Where normally I would hoover up after all they left it went in the compost bin. Wow, that was hard!

Especially pizza crusts...

You are doing well, keep doing as they say. xx

Ahhh thanks bandito.

I just read your diary, so very inspirational. The pain you describe... I'm absolutely petrified now of tomorrow ....

I hope my recovery is easy or I'm going to feel so depressed I know it.... Just hope the weight loss comes with it.

Don't worry! We're all different and one fella, Leedsguy or something, breezed through it. I'm starting to think it's about expectation. I had read so much about how key-hole reduces pain and recover etc. that maybe I was expecting something less and was surprised.
I'm fairly certain if I had read something about it being agony I would have thought it wasn't that bad! :D

See Bandito very qualified and inspirational :) all our journeys are valid and all very different. I sobbed and sobbed once i was back on the ward wondering what the hell i had done!! My main pain was wind..... after coming round after op the nurses brought me calpol which i was advised to take, but wasn't in pain. I did have a funny turn feeling sick but that was the anesthetic coming out, i've not heard many say they feel sick afterwards. I was sent home with loads of paracetamol but only day 4 post op did i take any and that was for wind..... it was uncomfortable really and it wouldn't shift. Paracetamol just took the edge of it, plus i laid on a hot water bottle which helped too.
Can say pre op was hard but post op is not a picnic either lol sorry not trying to put you off just want you to be informed and prepared. Not everyone suffers .... some breeze thru, i was 4 weeks post op before i started feeling almost normal again, some are back to work in 2 weeks, its horses for courses !!! I had a tooth out at dentist 2 weeks ago and old crown remove, i was in more pain after that than the band op LOL
I think my diary has all my journey details have a read. Always wanted to tell it as it was so others could get an idea from what to expect.

In the mean time hunni, breath :) get some rest early start tomorrow x x x I was the same honest, reading and re reading the good the bad the ugly, almost backed out on the day, but now here i am 7 weeks post op 46lb down, just off out for a walk and feeling brill. Just remember its no miracle cure, its hard work lol the band can still be cheated if your that way inclined ......... but my answer is why put yourself thru this just to cheat. Follow the rules and you'll be fine :)

I'm a rule sticker don't worry! ?

I know it will be ok it's just a process of recovery, if I have to get another week off I do, at least it's one go at the time....

I promise from when I get up tomorrow till I'm home Sunday I'll be on here talking you all through my recovery and until I'm a size 10 again.... Thanks all so much xx

I hope so crystal , it's bloody scary before it though ...

Oh yes i was terrified :) the team at the hospital will help you thru too!! For mne the worst bit on the day was the waiting was there at 7 for 7.30am didn't go down til 1ish my heart was in my mouth every time the door opened. Then walking into theater and getting on the table eeek but they all made me feel so at ease, i could have ran at that point but was asleep in no time x x x hugs hun and wising u the very best

That's how I feel. And knowing there is no one there to reassure me all day, and when I come round alone, 200 miles from home it's gonna be traumatic for me I know it.... But this is something I need to conquer . Times I've just wanted to die because I've been so depressed and the feeling if hopelessness that in a Yoyo circle is horrific. Honestly the damage I've dive to myself physically and mentally , I need to do this!

I took my before shots today. Let's say.... Vile is a nice word to explain it. I needed the starting point to my journey though. Without them I'll never see whether 5k investment was worth it

Thank you- your advice and support is so well appreciated. Xxx
