Op and Parenting

How easy or hard is it to continue with normal life after the OP? I have two children with special needs and the thought of not being able to look after them properly because I'm too sick/tired/in pain or something - well it terrifies me!

Can anyone share their experiences with me, please?

Thank you x

What surgery are you potentially having as this can also make a difference?

The fact I am a single parent, and self employed at that, played a huge part in the overall decision of what surgery I had. I had a band fitted, and was back to normal duties from the day I came out of hospital in terms of cooking etc at home and on day 3 had to do a 150 mile round trip to get my son to a football commitment, ever since its been as normal . . .although I did take it a little easier to begin with.

Hello :)

Thank you for replying. I don't know yet, they mentioned a sleeve but because of my BMI I would need a balloon first. I've got 3 months to make some weight loss progress myself before we discuss it again.

I've been doing lots of reading and I'm so worried about being sick a lot :(

Xx

I've got three kids 16,12 and 4. The 16 yr old is Autistic with no speech and his also insulin dependent diabetic. Because of his special needs he cannot inject so I do it all.

I had a bypass 8 wks ago and from the moment I stepped home from the hospital(had op on weds and out on friday) I was back to my routine, cooking, housework, school runs the lot. I'm also a single parent so I did what I had to do. No naps in the day to rest post op etc.

I did push it and paid for it but not even the pain kept me down,I just took painkillers and carried on. I've had a few sicky(nearly vomiting) episodes but I just carry on
