Hi everyone it has been a very busy last week... getting everything ready for the op, bag is packed and ready, also I was lucky to have all my family coming to visit me from france this weekend. What i really need to know is if I packed the right stuff for the hospital, this is what i have:
  1. 2 pj's
  2. one pair of slippers
  3. toiletries (gel duche, tooth past and brush, vaseline, cream, deoderant, anti-bacterial wipes and also tissues)
  4. towel
  5. a tracksuit for when I leave
Also I would like to know whether i can take my own water and what else can be missing

The nerves are enormous... don't really know what to think.
I'll just keep my head busy with my Uni work lol until I go to hospital.

Hi there, good luck with you op. Mine is on the 29th with Dr Whitelaw as well. Looking at your list i think you have everything clothes wise what about books, mag or music.

Any meds you normally take. I wore a loose sundress rather than anything fitted to my waist as a couple of wound sites were at waist height just above belly button. No bra if underwired for a few days as again a couple of the wound sites are close under your boobs as well. Headphones for your own music on your phone, iPod etc or the tv if you have one over your bed assuming you can afford the rip off prices.

wow you are super organised, I go in on the 23rd for op on 24th and just started packing bits and pieces - i got nightdresses rather than pjs from advice in other threads.

Thanks everyone for your replies... I am taking all my meds and my Iphone which I can't live without lol, however I would like to know whether we are allowed to take our laptops???? And the reason why everything is already packed is because I am super anxious, can't wait for that day to arrive... I so want to see how it turns out and I am hoping for a long and happy future with my little girl.... thanks again xxx

Make sure u take your charger I went through my iPhone battery like there was no tomorrow, I would also defo take a troat spray it was my life saver when I could have water as my mouth was as dry as a paving stone. I took my laptop in but becareful where u leave it.

Hope everything goes to plan and u have a super fast recovery keep us updated xxx

You can take laptops in L&D with you, its just who will look after it while your being operated on.

The staff have to go through your bag etc and list everything, then someone has to sign for it again.

Also dont forget a pillow for your journey home, so the seat belt doesnt rub on your wounds.

Seems like you have it all covered, but make sure your tracky bottoms are loose, as your tummy could be quite swollen when you come home.

Sure it will all be fine for you, and in no time at all you will be all done and dusted. See you on the losers bench!

I took both PJs and a nightdress but only wore the nighdress it was so much easier because I had a cathetar. The pillow for the journey home is a must, as you feel every bump and turn in the road. I took baby wipes and lip balm too. Good luck see you on the loosers bench very soon. xx

Good luck for tomorrow Yasmin. It's my op day too and I've just checked my bag. I have to put in a towel and just remembered my hairbrush and tooth brush lol. I was going to take my Nintendo and Kindle but have decided just to take in some trashy mags! Oh- and I 've got a notepad and pen in case they tell me stuff I need to remember.
I don't feel frightened yet, or excited, just really flat. Wierd
