hi agian sorry but anyone who has had open surgery at st richards can you please tell me how long you had to stay in?
I have a 1and half hour journey home dont know if this makes any difference?
I had open surgery bypass at york, was in 4 days but couldnt drive...was told not to for quite a while...perhaps you need to ask your consultant...mine was NHS...private seem to ship folk out quite soon...
Not much help am I sorry but didnt want to read and run....
You shouldn't drive yourself home. You will be advised when you'll be able to drive again but it's usually at least a week because the anaesthetic stays in your body for some time. It could effect your car insurance, too, so you need to check with them. Zxx
Open surgery usually means at least 2 weeks before driving (depends on your insurance company) as can be longer.
My friend had open bypass with Mr Slater in April - she went in on Thursday (day of op) and went home on the following Monday. She did not have long drive home, but this does not seem to make a difference. Unless you have problems you are likely to go home after 4 nights...
She started off on Aldwick Bay (bariatric ward) and was then moved to one of the private rooms 2 nights later - this is common as there are only 5 beds in the Bay.
Thanks guys dont worry i had no intensions of driving myself home i ment it was hour and half journey
So nobody been in 5-7 days as quoted by surgeon thats good news but i am bound to be different.
