Open surgery

Hi was wondering if any1 out there has had the bypass dun by open surgery.?

Bein cut rather then key hole everything really. I'm quite scared

I was opened and was a lucky one as had hardly any pain I am 3 weeks post op.I had my surgery at the Manor Hospital in west midlands and there we don't have stitches or staples but all stitching is on the inside and the outside scar is glued.
Many bypasses are done open but it depends on your consultants preferences

I was expected due to past abdomen ops to be open surgery but my surgeon managed to do it by keyhole xx

A think thts why he said it was open for me as I hav had past surgery. I have had a big fear ov bein cut open all my life and an even worse fear ov scars quite stupid really a no.

I had my bypass as open as have most Walsall Manor patients.
The only problem you need to be careful of after surgery is getting an incisional hernia.
So no stomach exercises for at least 6 months, and no heavy lifting either.
Having my "ernie" done next week
Not everyone who has open gets a hernia just a few of us very unlucky ones

Mine is goin to be at North Tyneside it's a while of yet a Jst can't stop preparing myself. It has been a long process and suddenly it feels like its crept up on me,now I no its really happening it Jst has to sink in. I hope yor op goes well I'm Jst freakin myself out xx
