Oranges

I am over four months bypassed now and wonder if any one else eats oranges post surgery? I know they are acidic but I really enjoy an orange. Prior to surgery I could eat half a dozen or a bag of satsumas but now its only a couple over the course of a week. I find my pouch stings a bit though. I also like to have some fresh orange juice on occasions but feel this also stings. I also like to take orange juice and oranges to help combat the iron tablets that I have now started taking although only half the recommended dose. Can others please tell me if they eat oranges or leave them well alone....and if they leave them alone what about vinegar??? I love cockles and find that on the rare occasions I have them it can also sting. xx

try rinsing the cockles with a bit of fresh water...they still have a slight bit of vinegar on them but should help

As for oranges dont have a clue sorry :-(

Its the vinegar that attracts me...once asked my doc why I craved it as it can be a sign you are low in potassium but my levels where fine. Pre surgery I used to crave it so much I could swig it out of the bottle....only a good malt mind lol....I used to soak tuna in it so it was like soup to get a fix....now I dont crave it any where near as much and think thats due to the vits (was obviously lacking in something)...but I do give them a damn good soaking in the stuff before I eat them...no hope for me...xx

I know what you mean...I adore all shellfish including things like jellied eels etc and a good dose of chilli vinegar goes down well

I also like oranges linda and have 3-4 a week without any problems i also have a small amount of juice with my iron tabs.
Not a lover of vinigar except balsamic drizzeled on salad but am careful because of the sugar content of it.

Thanks for your replies everyone, prior to surgery I also thought I might be starting with an ulcer as I do like acidic stuff....will mention it at my appointment on wednesday and let you know what Mr ammori says..xx
