Over dumping

tpt

Uber geek
Lordy I am getting to be mrs complainer  - am back at work now and still running on about 50% of energy. I have dumped everyday for the past 4 days and I am scratching my head...today - half a cup-a-soup for lunch (busy, lunch on the fly) then for tea, 1 dspn mash, slither of steak pie, 2 tbspn steamed veg, dspn cauli-cheese & some gravy - about a te plate full of which I ate 1/3rd and within 20 mins, I am on the loo cramping to hell and stuck there for an hour.

I know - call my dietitian blah blah - but anyone got any pointers? I am going back on the fluids as this is not fun.

And that protein shake tastes like metal filings - who on earth invented that loathful stuff??

Grumble, mutter, grumble grumble....

Would you maybe have an upset tummy and you think its 'dumping'...god I hate that word lol
Can you still have IBS after a bypass, could it be that?
Sorry hun cant help you but maybe you should ring your dietician!!! :giggle:

Did you eat the pastry on the pie - if so then it could be a reaction to the fat in the pastry and the cauliflower cheese, as opposed to actual sugar dumping. Only a thought.

Don't think so Kate, it only happens after I eat a meal - soups no prob, plus the symptoms are different - with the dumping I have what is commonly referred to as a 'whitey'..poor hubby has to wait near the bathroom door as I often crash off the loo then he can't help lift me up (not able bodied) and sits with me till I come round to make sure I am safe - bless him! He is getting naffed of with it too.

Am wondering if there is any sugar in the steak pie that could be the cause, maybe u could try having no processed foods for a few days and see if the dumping eases up a bit xx

That's a thought - although I eat cheese daily (for the calcium & protein) and never had a prob and I barely had 1/2 a fork full of the pastry - and last night I had fish, mash & veg and the same thing. Maybe this is my Karma for moaning about not losing for 3 weeks.

Thanks Roch - could be. I am goign back on fluids for a few days because this piggin' dumping is making my tummy sore, my throat sore and my ears (from hubby telling me off)

I have no words of wisdom, but hope you get over this real soon.... xx

Eww - sounds really rough. Poor ol' thing! I thinks it's a good idea to back on fluids for a bit - to see how things go. Do you actually pass out? That's really dreadful. I really hope things pick up a bit for you - if they don't perhaps you should contact your wls team. :hug99: xx

I honestly think you need to see a GP if you are blacking out...that can't be good.

Hope you feel a little better soon....

:)Thanks guys - I have had episodes of fainting since my op - have been checked out and it is just a side effect I am having

Got up to weigh myself this morning before work and hubby has skipped the scales - he is so fed up with me moaning about not losing and being sick that he is taking measures!! So - it's just how my clothes fit from now on!

I feel much more optimistic this morning and I think a few days of fluids then start again slowly.

Glad to hear you are feeling better.:)
I still personally think its all catching up with you from moving house so soon after the op. But what do I know, Im no nurse lol.

Take care and rest up a bit more:D

My dietician told me it would be the carbs
Well I've been stuggling without and the other day after a no carb dinner I was hungry at bed time, had a yummy crusty bread cob, And oh boy was it the carbs

I have to find everything out the hard way, mashed spuds will do it to me too, but I can eat one posh chocolate no probs, steak, eggs anything, it all goes down without resistance. But after carbs I'm horrible

Had 3 sushi things yest, about 150 cal, all wrapped in rice and was almost comatose on the sofa for the afternoon. It's not good is it? and feels so flipping random, I was living off morsels of sushi on the pre op diet.

Good luck hope you track down what ails you, and I'd get on the blower, fainting's a very bad idea
all the best

Thank you! It's a relief (sorry!) to find someone else who is / was struggling with this! I am usually fine on potato mash - have managed it for weeks - am now week 6 post op and at a time that I thought I should be rejoicing, it's a bit of a downer. I stopped fainting through the day like I was (that was malnutition) and only do so when I dump now - it's all spinny then bamm.....
