Overwhelmed with support - from people I don't even know!

Hi All,
I was really feeling blue about some of my families choices and opinions about my surgery and have just been made to feel so much better....
My mum in law has given me the telephone number of a daughter of a friend who has had the procedure done too and she has said I can call her for a chat, how nice is that!
Isn't it funny how somethimes, the only people who appreciate how you feel are the ones who have been through this too...

yes support is a geat positive thing that helps wls patients through this process this site is a great place to be as well as the advice here is excellent, i have made many new friends through having weight loss surgery and these people i would not of had the pleasure of knowing if it had not of been for my surgery. Good luck with you op on the 1st xxx

I find that most people do not understand unless they have been through it themselves. It's lovely to get support though!

On a slightly different note, my sister recently started a diet for the first time ever. She has done brilliantly well and has managed to lose over 2 stones in 2 months. She has never really understood my problems with weight swings, and because she lost the weight with very few problems she kept saying to me 'I don't know what all the fuss is about!' Well today she got weighed and has put a pound on. She phoned me in tears and was absolutely devestated. So I gave her support! Maybe now she will understand that it's not always so easy! xx

You're right there! Some people do find it easier and from an outsider point of view my diet seems healthy, what they dont see are the constant binges when no one is looking, its nice to know that there are other people like that!

I met one of my best mates through this site, and we even had our ops on the same day
It is great having been through the same experience with someone, and being able to ring them, to chat through the good times, and bad timesand esp celebrating the good times together, as we are on Fridayarty0038:

It is true and after having my band I can relate more and understand what people on here are saying and have to say I take alot more notice ! x
