Pain and GB

Dear all,
I have just finished watching the programme I recorded on "The Hospital"which was illustrating the rise in GB for the obesity crisis.

Did feel slighty uncomforatble with how the surgeon and his team were making fun in the operating theatre of the fat exposed following incision.

We're not figures of fun we just need help and support. Maybe its just me being over sensitive.

Did anyone watch it?

Now I 'm all over the place. The one girl spoke of the intense pain she was experiencing post op.

Now all post op GB ers lets have the honest truth how bad is it?

I have a high tolernace to pain so I just need some preparation to what might be.

pain wise in honesty minute i woke up felt id been hit by bus hour or so later i got up and from then on was uncomfortable but not agonising easily managed b paracetomol and condiene. i have to say my only advice as soon as our allowed get up and get moving just up ward and back it gets rid of wind so much better which is mainly what causes the pain.
and that surgeon seemed a proper dick!

theres a thread somewhere on here about the real truth and pain after a gb, but i cant remember who started it :sigh:

PG you are such an organised person i wish i was like that!!!!

Hiya
I did not watch to programme...but by the sounds of it, the surgeon did make some very insensitive remarks and he was very foolish to say them on camera- I hope he gets pulled up on it and is disciplined for what he has done.
Post-op I felt totally rubbish, but I had a morphine pump that I could press every 5 minutes...you just have to stay focussed on why you are having this done...and I think the pain post-op is worth it all.
((((hugs)))) :grouphugg:
:party0011: Xxx em xxX :party0011:

I must admit I felt pretty rough but that was down to the terrible shoulder pain/trapped wind. I was not prepared for this at all. Make sure you have windeze tabs and disgusting Gripe Water.
I had some Tramadol Tablets kicking about so I used them for pain relief.

Compared to my expectations the pain really was minimal. I'd say day one hurt and felt like I'd been kicked in the tummy, but really thereafter I had discomfort for 2 or 3 days and since then I pretty much forget about it most of the time. I was sent home with effervescent codeine/paracetemol and never used them.

11 days post op and I really don't feel any different to pre-op life. I have no sense of being different inside.

Hope that helps reassure.. It is different for everyone, but I can only share my experience and that's been amazingly smooth.

Oh and forgot... you're right .... that surgeon was vile.
