I've got killer tooth ache but I have no idea what pain killers I am allowed to take following bypass. i know there's some we shouldnt use. Can anyone help? I have some Solpadol from when I had the op but that seems a bit OTT for a toothache ;o)
You shouldn't take any NSAID's (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like Ibuprofen as they irritate the stomach lining and can cause ulcers in a normal stomach so our little ones don't like them at all. Aspirin could have the same effect.
I know Solfadol is paracetamol and codeine which is what i was on after the op but your best to speak to your team to make sure. I have been told to avoid anything with asprin in an ibuprofen.
I would recommend soluble or liquid paracetamol for a post-op, easy to digest and doesn't contain the irritants that ibuprophen & asprin have. As always go with your teams advice over what you find here as none of us are medical.
