Pain meds

Hi there. Getting banded 13th August in Belgium. I'm wondering what type of pain meds do they give you post op and for home too? I'm a wreck thinking about pain as I don't do good with it. Thanks xx

Get some calpol 6+ or liquid paracetamol. It's really not that painful so try not to worry.

I had my band in the UK, it was over four years ago but from memory:

Morphine - straight after the op
Soluble - co-codamol as soon as I could drink and to take home

To be honest as the soluble tabs taste so bad, I got some kids liquid pain relief for at home (as tealovingsleever did). You can get liquid paracetamol and ibruprofen, supermarkets even do their own brands too.

Its only natural to feel nervous xx

I had soluble co-codamol from what I take with migraine pain sometimes, so had that. I hate the taste and consistency of the childrens medicine so avoid that, and I found being on the liquids post band anyway, that it was a bit gloopy.

But soluble paracetemol and ibuprofen is enough. You may want to get something to hand for wind pain, which for some can be quite bad. Something such as windeze, deflatine (or boots own brand I found to be better)
