hi hun dont worry about it mine had bad timing too, there not bothered about that there used to it. It just means you have more to pack just make sure you tell them x x x x x sarah

why dont you get a packet or 2 of contraceptive pills from the drs and take them for two months that way you will block a period its only for 2 months !!! i know i would do that if i had peirods im on a implant so im period free for 3 years at a time!!!x

Not a doctor, but don't think this is a good idea as the Pill can increase risk of DVT's amongst other things. I don't think a doctor would let you do this just to avoid a period for surgery - bit too risky... Mind you, with only 3 days to go before surgery, not sure there would be time!!!

When I had my band fitted I came on the morning of surgery, even though I wasn't due! No trouble at all, they just put a pad in place and have seen it all before. Just tell the nurse and you will be fine.

Lol bless you for worrying about this... I think its sweet that your about to have an operation and are worrying about your cycle..

In all honesty they aren't going to pull a face or think it's disgusting or anything. If it happens just let them know when you go in and take in the necessary requirements. If your 'open' and not keyhole you may prefer pads to mice though as the stretching could be awkward (or so i imagine from when i had my gallbladder out all them years ago)...

Good luck to you love, come back a loser and tell us all about it xxx

Nurses told me that it often happens and soon after surgery - even for 'more mature ladies' who may not have had one for a while. Don't worry about it. They'll be used to it! x x

I was on my period when I had my op last week. They actually asked me when my next menstrual cycle was. They said it wasn;t a problem.

Just make sure you mention it when your there.

Hope all goes well. :)

snap, i have pcos and not had a period since xmas. then 3 days before my op last week, what happens? i was asked when my last period was and i said im having one now. i put in a fresh tampon before i went down for the op and low and behold as soon as i came round in recovery i could feel the familiar sensation of embarrasment!! i asked the recovery nurse if she had a sanitary pad and she did all the work for me, bless her heart she was lovelly. have to say having a sore (big) tummy made sanitary ablutions a bit difficult, i could of done without it! but it's not the end of the world hun.
good luck, you'll be fine xxx
